The traffic flow is so busy that traffic police have to work hard to patrol and control to ensure traffic safety on this vital route.
These days, National Highway 26 through Krong Pac district (old) is very crowded with all kinds of vehicles, from motorbikes, tourist cars to trucks and especially giant container trucks. This is the peak time of the durian harvest season, when agricultural products are transported from gardens to warehouses and from there to all over the country. The sudden increase in traffic volume, especially container trucks, has led to local traffic jams in some sections of the route.
Vehicles lined up on Highway 26, passing through Ea Knuec commune. |
Mr. Nguyen Duc Viet ( Dak Lak province), a bus driver on the Dak Lak - Nghe An route, shared: “I often travel on National Highway 26, and every time I pass by, I feel frustrated. There are too many vehicles, from motorbikes, trucks to containers, but the road is too small. We have to "crawl" in long lines, which is very time-consuming and stressful.” According to Mr. Viet, this situation not only affects driving time but also poses a very high risk of accidents.
In addition to the sudden increase in vehicles, the lack of synchronization in upgrading and expanding the route is also one of the main causes of congestion on National Highway 26. Although some sections have been renovated, many locations are still narrow, unable to meet the sudden increase in traffic volume.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ni ( Gia Lai province), a container truck driver transporting agricultural products, complained: "Continuously moving in traffic jams not only wears out the vehicle but also makes the driver mentally stressed and tired."
Officers of Traffic Police Team No. 2 propagate drivers to comply with regulations when participating in traffic. |
Faced with the above situation, the patrol teams of Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Traffic Police Department, Dak Lak Provincial Police) have closely coordinated with the police forces of communes along the route to increase patrols and traffic control. The focus of these activities is to propagate and remind drivers and agricultural warehouse owners along both sides of the route to stop, park, turn around properly, and load and unload goods without obstructing traffic.
Not only regulating and guiding, Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 also regularly checks and strictly handles violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents. “We arrange mobile checkpoints but still have to ensure that they do not obstruct the flow of traffic. Violators will be removed from the route for handling to avoid traffic congestion,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thai Dung, Deputy Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 2.
The overloaded situation on National Highway 26 not only causes difficulties for vehicles but also poses many potential risks to traffic safety. When the road is narrow, vehicles jostle and overtake recklessly, which can lead to collisions. Therefore, in addition to the efforts of the Traffic Police, upgrading and expanding National Highway 26 has become an urgent need and a long-term solution. Investing in and completing traffic infrastructure in a synchronous manner not only helps reduce congestion and accidents but also creates favorable conditions for the transportation of agricultural products, promoting local economic development.
