
The workshop was attended by delegates from the Department of Internal Security, Ministry of Public Security , and units under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In her opening remarks, Deputy Director of the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety Tran Bich Ngoc stated that the Law on Nuclear Security Prevention and Control was promulgated in 2013 and implemented across ministries and sectors to ensure the dissemination and popularization of the law in nuclear security prevention and control. Based on the guidance and work program of the National Steering Committee for Nuclear Security Prevention and Control over various periods, the Ministry of Science and Technology has developed and implemented a plan consistent with its functions and responsibilities, focusing on ensuring the security of key projects in the science and technology sector, and strengthening state management of security in the field of atomic energy and radiation safety against terrorist threats.

Against the backdrop of complex developments in global and regional security, Deputy Director Tran Bich Ngoc emphasized that the workshop would enhance awareness among officials and employees at units under the Ministry regarding counter-terrorism laws and related regulations. Simultaneously, it would update information on the program and plan for implementing activities of the National Counter-Terrorism Steering Committee in coordination with ministries and sectors, disseminate information on the risks of terrorism in the new situation in the field of science and technology, and highlight responsibilities in strengthening counter-terrorism work at units and facilities.
At the workshop, representatives from the Department of Internal Security of the Ministry of Public Security and units under the Ministry of Science and Technology exchanged expertise, shared experiences, and discussed the operational plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology's Counter-Terrorism Steering Committee for the coming period. Content on methods and techniques for handling terrorist situations was also presented, contributing to improving capacity and refining effective counter-terrorism plans at each unit.
