General introduction about Black Melaleuca tree: It is a large tree 25-30m high, up to 90cm in diameter, straight trunk, the tree has black latex with a very special aroma, odd pinnate compound leaves, oval-shaped leaflets 6-12cm long, 3.6cm wide; inflorescences are in the shape of a mace, pale white, narrow ovoid nuts, dark black when ripe, pink flesh. The tree is distributed in the provinces: Lai Chau , Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Lang Son...., the tree likes light.

Growing conditions: Canarium trees are suitable for temperatures from 20-23 degrees, annual rainfall from 1500-2200mm, suitable for relatively flat terrain, slope less than 20 degrees, suitable for feralit soil, gray soil, clay or clay-based soil, sloping soil, alluvial soil along rivers and streams, soil with forest soil properties;
Techniques for planting black canarium forests for fruit in Lai Chau: Regarding the source of seeds, grafting branches are taken from 20 superior trees that have been obtained, grafted trees must be 6 years old or older, have borne fruit for at least 3 years, healthy, and free of pests and diseases; grafted trees must be 12 months old, over 50cm tall, grafted shoots must be over 20cm tall, root collar diameter must be over 1cm, the tree must be sturdy, dry and topless, green leaves, healthy; Planting method: Planting pure species, mixed or agroforestry; density 278 - 400 trees/ha. Best planted in spring (March-April) or autumn (August-September).
