Former Editor-in-Chief of Dak Nong Newspaper Nguyen Hong Hai and current Editor-in-Chief Vu Ngoc Tu told us: Invite journalists to visit Nhan Co Alumina Factory in Dak R'lap District and the land with a lot of bauxite ore to help propagate... This is also an opportunity for us to "witness" the lives of people in the Central Highlands today.

So, although they did not say it, the entire group of nearly twenty journalists in the North were excited by this solemn invitation. Didn’t the ancients say: “A hundred hearings are not as good as one seeing?” To be honest, we were quite familiar with the ancient epics Dam San, the Gong Civilization of the Central Highlands; and the works Dat Nuoc Dung Lanh, Bazan Thit… of the modern era. As for doing business today, we needed to learn more. Furthermore, for me personally, after decades of working as a journalist, I have gone to the field to write articles for the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) many times, but not since the Group entered the Central Highlands to exploit and develop.

Chief of Office of Nhan Co Alumina Factory Nguyen Kim Tiep has been in the Central Highlands since the beginning of the establishment of the unit, so he understands his factory like the back of his hand, and directly guides us to visit the factory and work with us. We sat in a car and slowly drove around the factory for several kilometers under the shade of green trees and fresh air. The production technology from ore to finished alumina packaging is all automatic. The aluminum factory has basically been completed, and soon this place will be producing aluminum ingots...

Mr. Nguyen Kim Tiep informed: Nhan Co Alumina Factory under Dak Nong Aluminum Company - TKV (DNA) is one of two pilot projects in the new industry - the industry of mining and processing bauxite ore to produce alumina, moving towards aluminum production. On October 1, 2015, Dak Nong Aluminum Company - TKV was established, with the task of directly managing and operating Nhan Co Alumina Factory with the goal of making a profit, effectively using and developing capital and resources assigned by TKV, contributing to the State budget, creating jobs for local workers, accumulating resources and sustainably developing the bauxite mining and processing industry.

Geological exploration, application of advanced technology and contractor selection had been done before. The initial stage of production operation of the Company encountered many difficulties: The Company received, managed and operated an advanced German technology line, with a young team of workers, without practical experience in the alumina industry; the price of alumina on the world market also fluctuated quite abnormally. Not to mention the COVID-19 pandemic did not spare this place...

But with the spirit of "Discipline - Unity", the efforts of more than 1,100 officers and workers (40% of whom are local), the Company continuously completed the goals assigned by TKV. During more than 6 years (2017-2023) of commercial operation, Nhan Co Alumina Factory has achieved results beyond expectations. By the first quarter of 2021, the Company's alumina output reached 187 thousand tons and has so far reached over 100% of its design capacity.

Along with mastering the technology, the Company also has many technical improvement solutions, improving the quality and output of alumina. The alumina products produced by the Company are mainly exported to the markets of Japan, Korea, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Switzerland..., and are favored and trusted by many customers around the world. The Company contributes nearly 1,500 billion VND to the State budget each year. The construction of the alumina factory in Dak R'lap district has achieved remarkable initial results, contributing to creating a new breakthrough for the economy of Dak Nong in particular and the Central Highlands region in general...

Along with the formation and development of the bauxite mining and processing project, through practical research, the staff and reporters of Dak Nong Newspaper always understand the advantages and difficulties of the new industry in their homeland.

Former Editor-in-Chief of Dak Nong Newspaper Nguyen Hong Hai explained: Bauxite ore has a large content, spread over a large area in the locality, easy to exploit. Just peel off the weathered layer, the top soil layer about 2m on the surface to reach the ore layer 4-5m thick. After mining, the land will be restored and cultivation will resume. However, land clearance is sometimes difficult, we have to mobilize and persuade the people of the M'Nong, E'De, and Xtieng ethnic groups to support. Or foreign cadres, engineers, and workers come to build the factory, after handing over, they return to their home country, no one settles in this place, the provincial press also has to explain and inform about that issue...

The press also played an important role in affirming that the investment in the construction of Nhan Co Alumina Plant has significantly improved the general infrastructure of Dak Nong province. The project has, is and will continue to create many jobs for local workers, including a significant number of ethnic minorities here. In addition, Dak Nong Aluminum Company - TKV always pays attention to implementing social security work well, supporting policy families and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances in the province (with a total support fund of nearly 100 billion VND to date)...

The above initial results have been shaping a new industry, while contributing to strongly promoting the socio-economic development process of Dak Nong province towards industrialization and modernization.
