From a young age, Daniel Liu displayed exceptional intelligence, learning to read the alphabet at age one and becoming a fluent reader at age two. At age nine, Daniel enrolled in honors courses in advanced chemistry and statistics. At age ten, he participated in the national competition "You Be the Best Chemist ."

Outperforming over 30,000 other contestants, Daniel won the $10,000 prize. This achievement gave Daniel the opportunity to meet President Obama at the White House. "This sparked my love for Chemistry. I feel that Chemistry is always present around us in our lives," the student shared.

At age 13, the boy enrolled in advanced chemistry courses at the University of Toledo (Ohio, USA). There, Daniel became famous on social media when he appeared in an inorganic chemistry class, confidently telling his friends, "If you have any questions, you can ask me via email."

During this time, Daniel also worked in the laboratory of Professor Michael Young, an organic chemistry professor. In fact, the laboratory at the University of Toledo (USA) prohibits children under 12 from entering, but because Daniel possessed strong scientific research abilities and solid knowledge, he was granted privileged access.

Under the guidance of Professor Michael Young, Daniel successfully published his first paper in the journal of the American Chemical Society. His research on producing pharmaceuticals in a less expensive and environmentally friendly way earned him a patent.

Daniel Liu, a Chinese-American prodigy, is currently a software engineer at Google.

In 2019, the family moved from Ohio to Michigan so Daniel could focus on his studies and work in Melanie Sanford's Chemistry lab. At this time, he was pursuing a dual degree in Chemistry and Computer Science at the University of Michigan.

At age 14, Daniel officially became the youngest member of Melanie Sanford's Chemistry lab at the University of Michigan. Each week, Daniel spends 10 hours in the lab conducting research under the direct guidance of Professor Melanie Sanford.

Starting university at the age of 14, Daniel inevitably faced skepticism from others regarding his work. However, his professors and doctors remained confident in him. Professor Melanie Sanford stated, "Seeing Daniel work diligently and achieve remarkable research results, I see no difference between him and other students." Dr. Mohit Kapoor, who has worked with Daniel for a long time, added that the young man is as mature as any researcher.

With outstanding academic and research achievements, in 2022, Daniel received the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship is awarded to outstanding students engaged in research in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Through his tireless efforts over four years, in 2023, Daniel graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.0.

Speaking about his future plans, Daniel said: "For Chemistry, I will continue to research more deeply the issues I'm interested in. As for Computer Science, I want to work at Google or similar companies."

Currently, Daniel has joined Google as a software engineer. To achieve this, Daniel says he is always grateful to his parents for their unwavering support, which helped him maximize his talents in Chemistry and Computer Science.

The pre-exam setback for the male student who won the Gold Medal at the Chemistry Olympiad : Just before the first round of the exam, Nguyen Kim Giang had a high fever, which prevented him from achieving the desired results. Encouraged by his teacher, the student recovered and continued his journey to conquer the Gold Medal.
