Than Uyen improves people's spiritual life

Talking with Ms. Bui Thi Bich Dung - Vice Chairman of Than Uyen Commune People's Committee, it is known that after the merger, Than Uyen Commune has 41 villages, residential areas, 6,305 households, over 27,280 people with 10 ethnic groups living together. Along with the task of economic development, the commune focuses on implementing many solutions to improve the spiritual life of the people. In particular, directing specialized departments to coordinate with villages and residential areas to promote the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho". Strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to build villages, residential areas, and cultural families; preserving the beauty of national traditions from language, writing, costumes, cuisine, and house architecture.

At the same time, the commune pays attention to maintaining the effective operation of art troupes, Then singing - Tinh lute clubs in the area and supports operating costs according to the policy of the Provincial People's Committee at the rate of 3 million VND/art troupe/year. In addition, 12 art troupes are supported by the commune (each team over 70 million VND) from the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Along with that, Than Uyen commune integrates capital from national target programs, resolutions, and projects of the province to synchronously invest in the system of grassroots cultural institutions: cultural houses, stadiums, and sports training grounds. Mobilizing social resources to maintain and organize weekly cultural exchange programs on the walking street.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year every year, the commune organizes typical traditional festivals of the Thai ethnic group such as: Xoe Chieng, Lung Tung; art programs to celebrate the Party, celebrate spring; organize Independence Day at the provincial level in conjunction with the Cultural and Sports Festival of ethnic groups; National Great Unity Day; sports competitions. Thereby, creating conditions for people to meet, exchange, be proud of cultural values to raise awareness and responsibility in preserving, maintaining and promoting identity in the new period.

Clearly defining, improving the spiritual life of the people is not only organizing many recreational activities, cultural and artistic exchanges, but also changing the awareness and actions of each person, each family, clan, village, and residential area in eliminating backward customs and practices to build a new civilized, progressive and developed lifestyle. Therefore, Than Uyen commune promotes the strength of the entire political system, takes drastic and strong action; strengthens propaganda and mobilizes people, especially in remote villages, to gradually eliminate the bad customs of early marriage and incestuous marriage; organizes economical funerals and weddings, combats waste; raises livestock to ensure environmental hygiene, not to keep them under the floor...

Mr. Lu Van Hai - Party Cell Secretary and Head of Muong Village shared: The village has included the content of eliminating backward customs and practices in the conventions and village rules for the people in the village to implement. Every year, we organize propaganda sessions for the people to raise awareness, understanding, live and work in accordance with the law. Mobilize households to preserve the cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group; compete to build a cultural village and a cultural family. Thanks to that, up to now, in the village, bad customs have been gradually eliminated, funerals are held for no more than 48 hours, no slaughter of many livestock; no dowry. Women actively participate in the art troupe, preserving the national cultural identity through dances and songs. The whole village currently has 97/104 households achieving the title of cultural family.

On the other hand, every year, the commune focuses on taking care of the lives of poor households and households in difficult circumstances in the area on the occasion of holidays and Tet with practical gifts such as: necessities, household items; mobilizing resources from kind-hearted people to support the elimination of temporary houses, dilapidated houses, giving trees, seedlings... creating motivation to help households overcome difficulties and strive to build a new life.

With the efforts of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and the consensus of the people, the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" in Than Uyen commune has spread more and more widely. Up to now, the whole commune has maintained the activities of 41 mass art teams, 3 Tinh - Then singing clubs; 24 sports clubs; 1 stadium, 8 sports training houses. 90.6% of households; 90% of villages, residential areas; 96.4% of agencies, units and schools meet cultural standards; 1,827 households are recognized as sports families; over 40% of the population participates in regular sports. The spiritual life of the people has been improved, contributing to building a civilized and unique culture and people of Than Uyen.
