Ho Chi Minh City wishes to further strengthen cooperative relations with Japanese localities and partners.

On the afternoon of August 21st, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, received Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo, Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan, who was on a visit and working trip to the city.

Welcoming the high-level delegation of the Komeito Party, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan is not simply about economic and trade cooperation, but also a sincere friendship built on trust, understanding, and respect. The Vietnamese government and people consistently consider Japan a top, reliable, and long-term partner, and Ho Chi Minh City always regards Japan as one of its most important partners.

Thanking the Komeito Party for its important contributions as a ruling coalition party in Japan to strengthening and developing friendly cooperative relations between Vietnam and Japan, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen requested the Chairman of the Komeito Party to continue paying attention to and promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in the future.

Ho Chi Minh City has always been interested in developing cooperative relations with Japanese partners in the fields of trade, investment, culture, people-to-people exchanges, and especially in cooperation on training human resources and skilled young workers.

Affirming his desire to further strengthen cooperative relations with Japanese localities and partners, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen requested the Chairman of the Komeito Party to pay attention to supporting Japanese businesses and investors in promoting investment and long-term business in the city; promoting tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people diplomacy to bring the relationship between the two sides to a level commensurate with the potential and aspirations of both sides, contributing to the further development, depth, and effectiveness of Vietnam-Japan relations.

Thanking the city leaders for taking the time to meet, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo expressed his admiration for the dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City as the economic engine of Vietnam; he stated that the visit and working trip to Vietnam by the high-level delegation of the Komeito Party in 2023, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan; and the 15th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership and the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia next year, aims to further promote cooperation between Japan and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo stated that, as a partner of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the ruling coalition, the Komeito Party supports activities promoting Japan-Vietnam relations, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and training to improve the quality of human resources for the coast guard.

Besides promoting political, economic, and trade relations, it is essential to further strengthen cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy, as cultural exchange is the foundation for the development of relations between the two countries.

According to the Komeito Party leader, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese students, workers, and laborers are currently living, studying, and working in Japan, including approximately 170,000 trainees and about 80,000 highly skilled workers.

Japan has introduced a program that allows highly skilled workers to extend their stay in Japan and even bring their families along, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese trainees and workers to work confidently in Japan and contribute to Vietnam's economy upon their return.
