Mr. Dang Quoc Bang, technical officer, HAG Consulting - Investment and Construction Company (construction contractor) said that the company was assigned to construct DT948 route, the 1.5km long section passing through Tri Ton district.

The contractor is paving the asphalt surface of route DT948 in An Giang .

Previously, due to site clearance issues, the contractor encountered many difficulties in construction. Meanwhile, at the location, the contractor in charge was laying crushed stone to construct the road surface.

Weather conditions during this time are alternating between sun and rain, causing the road surface to be dusty in the sun and muddy in the rain, affecting the travel and daily activities of local people.

Immediately after Giao Thong Newspaper's reflection on the dusty construction route, affecting people's lives and posing a risk to traffic safety, along with the drastic intervention of local authorities, some difficulties were gradually resolved and the contractor increased human resources, equipment, overtime, and shift work to speed up construction.

Up to this point, the construction has basically gone smoothly and the contractor is starting to lay asphalt on the road surface. It is expected that by the end of this week, the 800m section with no remaining land clearance problems will be completed.

As for the remaining part, because the contractor has just received the clean site recently, he has just organized workers to carry out the work related to installing the longitudinal ditch.

It is expected that by the end of this week, the road connecting the two tourist areas of Ba Chua Xu Temple on Sam Mountain with the cable car on Cam Mountain will be completed with asphalt according to regulations.

After that, the contractor will have workers construct the stone road foundation 04 and strive from now until the end of this year, the road surface will be paved with asphalt according to regulations.

“In addition to speeding up to complete the assigned work, the contractor is also active in ensuring traffic safety during construction.

Specifically, to cover the asphalt road surface, the contractor will divide traffic on one side and use the other side for construction. In addition, during the implementation process, the contractor will also assign guards at both ends to guide people to move conveniently and safely," Mr. Bang added.

Will enforce construction

Mr. Hua Van Tai, Director of the Project Management Board, Investment and Construction of Tinh Bien town (investor) said that the urgent upgrading and expansion project of DT948 belongs to the national defense and security line of the border and ethnic areas, phase 2, with a total investment of nearly 997 billion VND.

As soon as the clean site is delivered, the contractor will promptly begin construction.

The entire route is more than 16km long, divided into two segments passing through Tinh Bien town and Tri Ton district. Of which, the section passing through Tinh Bien town is nearly 10.6km long, the rest belongs to Tri Ton district.

The project is a Class III delta road with a design speed of 80km/h. The project started in September 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. However, to date, the project progress has only reached 52%, 18% behind schedule.

The reason the project contractor has not yet reached the required 70% progress is because the site clearance work has not been completed, leading to many difficulties in organizing and arranging machinery and equipment.

Specifically, the project affects 1,669 households, of which 1,490 are in Tinh Bien town. Up to now, 1,443 households have handed over the construction site, while the remaining 47 households have not agreed to hand over the site.

In Tri Ton district alone, the project affects 179 households. Up to now, 174 households have handed over the construction site, while the remaining 5 households have not agreed to hand over the site for project implementation.

Relevant units will enforce if people do not hand over the construction site for route DT948 according to regulations.

“The investor is also actively coordinating with relevant units to increase propaganda so that people can hand over the site. Once the site is clean, the investor will direct the contractor to immediately carry out the related work so that the road surface can be paved by the end of this year.

For households that have not yet handed over the site, the investor is also coordinating with relevant units to complete documents and procedures to protect construction so that the project can be completed soon and put into use according to regulations," Mr. Tai added.

The DT948 route, more than 16km long, is an important route connecting Tinh Bien town with Tri Ton district. At the same time, the route also connects with neighboring localities such as Chau Doc city, Long Xuyen city and Kien Giang province.
Phase 1 of the project will be completed and put into use in early 2022, from Bung Tien Bridge in Van Giao Commune to Nui Cam Cable Car Tourist Area in An Hao Commune, Tinh Bien Town (An Giang). This section has a road surface width of 11m, a 1.5m wide sidewalk, and a hot asphalt concrete structure.
