Suoi Thau grassland ( Ha Giang ) makes tourists linger because of its wild beauty, both poetic and majestic.
Currently, Suoi Thau grassland (Ha Giang) is one of the most popular tourist destinations, thanks to its picturesque autumn scenery: lush green cornfields and rice paddies, buckwheat beginning to bloom, misty fog, and a sea of clouds. Suoi Thau is likened to "the Swiss steppe in the heart of Ha Giang" or "a fairytale land." This grassland is located about 5km from Coc Pai town, Xin Man district, Ha Giang province, at an altitude of over 1,200m above sea level. Uy, a tourist from Hanoi, recently took a "super short" trip of only 3 days and 2 nights to Ha Giang to see Suoi Thau firsthand (September 13-15). "Despite my busy work schedule, I was so captivated by the photos of this grassland that I decided to go right away," Uy said. On the night of September 13th, Uy boarded a bus from Hanoi and arrived in Ha Giang city at 4 am. After resting for a few hours, at exactly 7 am, Uy rented a motorbike and, along with a friend, set off for Suoi Thau. The journey was about 140 km. "Provincial Road 177 was under construction, so we had to drive around the mountains, which was quite narrow and in poor condition, with many potholes, making travel difficult. We arrived in Suoi Thau at 2:30 pm," Uy said. However, that day the weather was rainy, the roads were slippery and muddy, and the fog was thick. Uy was somewhat disappointed. He looked for a cafe to rest. "Luckily, the rain stopped at 4 PM, the fog gradually cleared, and the sun came out. I had about an hour to admire the dreamy, colorful grassland," Uy shared. Uy stayed nearby for a night with the hope of continuing to the steppe the next morning. However, the weather was not favorable so he regretfully returned, changed his schedule to visit Phung village, Thong Nguyen then returned to Ha Giang city. Suoi Thau retains its pristine, rustic beauty. Each season, the grassland offers a unique and impressive landscape. In spring, rapeseed flowers bloom profusely. In summer, the green of cornfields and rice paddies provides a refreshing coolness for visitors. Autumn is a time of transition: the rice ripens to a golden yellow, and the first buckwheat flowers bloom, creating a gentle and poetic atmosphere. In winter, visitors can admire fields of buckwheat interspersed with tall cypress trees stretching across the vast grassland. Currently, the total planned land area of Suoi Thau village grassland is 146 hectares, including land belonging to the administrative boundary of Coc Pai town and land belonging to the administrative boundary of Nan Ma commune. Visitors should note that this area is still a wild grassland, without many services and utilities.
