(Dan Tri) - Teachers and students of Phuc Khanh Primary and Secondary School No. 1, Phuc Khanh Commune, Lao Cai Province, donated a large sum of money to send to two schools in Nghe An, located in the flood-prone area heavily affected by recent storm No. 3.

This information was shared by Mr. Pham Duc Vinh, Principal of Phuc Khanh No. 1 Primary and Secondary School.

Speaking about the reason for donating money to help teachers and students in the flood-stricken area of Nghe An , Mr. Vinh said: "My students and I went through similar times a year ago, when typhoon number 3 passed through here and claimed many lives in Nu village, including many students from our school. Therefore, we deeply understand the urgency of the community joining hands to help."

"My students and I have overcome loss and grief thanks to the collective support of the community. Now it's time for us to repay the millions of kind hearts, demonstrating the spirit of mutual support and solidarity that is characteristic of the Vietnamese people."

According to Mr. Vinh, as soon as he read the news about the consequences of Typhoon Wipha on many schools in Nghe An, he and the school's management decided to call for support from all staff, teachers, parents, and students of the school.

After more than a week of fundraising, the school has received a total of 22.18 million VND. Of this amount, over 13 million VND came from students and parents, and over 9 million VND from the collective of 20 staff and teachers of the school.

The biggest challenge for Mr. Vinh was contacting My Ly 2 Ethnic Boarding Primary School (My Ly commune) and Muong Tip 2 Ethnic Boarding Primary School (Muong Tip commune). These were the two schools that suffered the most severe damage. The complicated flood situation made communication difficult.

It took another two weeks before Mr. Vinh was able to deliver the money to the teachers and students in Nghe An as he had wished.

In their thank-you letter to the teachers and students of Nu village, the teachers and students of Muong Tip 2 school wrote: "The kindness of the officials, teachers, staff, and parents of Phuc Khanh No. 1 Primary and Secondary School has warmed our hearts and given us more strength to overcome the challenges and difficulties ahead."

Typhoon No. 3, with its strong intensity and heavy rainfall and flooding, caused severe damage to the western communes of Nghe An province last August.

Just before the start of the new school year, many schools in My Ly and Muong Tip districts were flooded, with My Ly 2 Ethnic Boarding Primary School being submerged up to 3 meters deep. Student desks and chairs, as well as teaching equipment, were damaged, covered in mud, and peeling.

The support from the teachers and students of Nu village has helped My Ly school overcome difficulties to start the new school year.
