Vietnamese sports join hands to help people affected by natural disasters

On the evening of December 4, at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi, a special match took place. A competition between two football teams, FC T&T Group and FC National Assembly Delegates, raised funds to support people in the Central and Central Highlands regions suffering from natural disasters.

The match attracted attention with the participation of comrades: Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Social Affairs; Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Also participating were former Australian football legend Harry Kewell (currently head coach of Hanoi FC) and two Vietnamese football stars, Hung Dung and Van Quyet.

The organizers have launched fundraising activities directly at the stadium, creating conditions for agencies, organizations, businesses and people to participate in contributing and sharing with people in flood-hit areas. At the event, T&T Group donated 1 billion VND. Present at Hang Day Stadium, Coach Harry Kewell, Van Quyet and Hung Dung also sent their small feelings to join hands to share the difficulties with people in the Central and Central Highlands regions who have suffered from natural disasters.

Also according to information from the Organizing Committee, the entire amount of donations from the program of 1,026 billion VND will be transferred to the right locality, the right subjects that suffered heavy damage due to natural disasters, ensuring publicity, transparency and timeliness.

Representing the Organizing Committee, Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice President of T&T Group shared: “This is not only a simple sports activity, but also a deeply humane event, towards the people of the Central and Central Highlands, places that are struggling to overcome the severe consequences of storms and floods in the recent past. Through today's friendly activity, we hope to contribute a small part to share the difficulties with the people”.

Previously on December 3, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Department - Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games presented a donation of 116.5 million VND to the representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. According to Mr. Minh, in response to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Sports Department has launched many fundraising activities to support the people of the Central region and localities affected by storms and floods.

Notably, right before the Vietnamese Sports Delegation entered the 33rd SEA Games campaign, with the spirit of charity that had been strongly spread among each member, athletes, coaches, experts and officials of the Delegation contributed a total of 116.5 million VND to send to people in areas affected by natural disasters.

Receiving the donation, Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, Head of the Social Work Department, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front expressed his respect for the gesture of the Sports Industry and the Vietnam Sports Delegation.

The money raised from the above activities may not be able to immediately help alleviate the difficulties that people in flood-affected areas have had to endure in recent times, but it is proof that Vietnamese Sports always stands with the country. Athletes and coaches will fight fiercely for the country's flag during competitions and are always ready to share the difficulties with their compatriots in times of trouble.
