According to Tuy Hoa Border Guard Station under the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command, the surviving fishermen were brought to Dong Tac fishing port, Phu Yen ward, by fishing boat PY-96310-TS of Mr. Le Van Hien, residing in Phu Yen ward on the morning of December 4. The fishermen include Van Phu Hoang (born in 1991), Le Minh Sang (born in 1969) and Le Minh Trung (born in 1992), all residing in Phu Yen ward, Dak Lak province.

The body of one of the two missing fishermen, Le Van Cuong (born in 1993, residing in Phu Yen ward, Dak Lak province), was discovered drifting to the island by the navy of Son Ca island, Truong Sa special zone. According to the plan, Mr. Cuong's body will be transferred from Son Ca island to Cam Ranh port ( Khanh Hoa ) by ship HQ-633 of the Navy Region 4 Command. The remaining victim, Luong Cong Hau (born in 1977, residing in Phu Yen ward, Dak Lak province), is still missing.
As reported by CAND Newspaper, after 46 days and nights of tuna fishing in the Truong Sa sea area, at about 6:52 a.m. on November 28, the PY-96202 TS ship, with a capacity of 400 horsepower, captained by Mr. Luong Cong Hau, was operating on Son Ca island when a technical problem occurred, the wooden hull of the ship was punctured, water flooded into the compartment, sinking the fishing boat at coordinates 10°22'30" N-114°28'37" E.
At 7:45 a.m. the same day, fishing boat PY-90178 TS, operated by Mr. Nguyen Huu Phat (born in 1976, residing in Quarter 4, Phu Yen Ward), approached the scene and rescued 3 fishermen. The remaining 2 people were missing; after that, 1 body drifted to Son Ca Island and was brought ashore by the navy.
