Currently, the flood on the rivers of Hue city is slowly receding. It is forecasted that by the evening of the same day, the flood level on the rivers will return to the alarm level 3. Hue Electricity Company is closely monitoring the water level on the rivers to gradually restore power supply to the people, ensuring safety.
During these days of particularly large floods, officers and workers of Hue Electricity Company were constantly on duty, mobilizing specialized vehicles to inspect the power grid to ensure safety. In particular, officers and workers of Hue Electricity Company also actively supported the elderly, women and children in deeply flooded areas to move to safety by boat and specialized vehicles of the unit.
By 10:00 a.m. the same day, the water level on the Bo River was at 4.83 mm, 0.33 m above alert level 3. Previously, the flood on the Bo River set a new record at 5.25 m, while the flood peak in 2020 was 5.24 m. The water level on the Huong River is currently at 4.58 m, 1.08 m above alert level 3. Previously, the flood on the Huong River peaked at 5.05 m - the second highest level ever, after the historic flood in 1999 of 5.81 m. It is forecasted that in the coming hours, the floods on the rivers will continue to slowly recede; in which the Huong River is still at a very high level, above alert level 3, and the Bo River is below alert level 3.
Extremely heavy rains and floods have caused water levels on rivers to rise very high, inundating 32 out of 40 communes and wards of Hue city; the average flood level is up to 1 - 2 meters; in some places it is deeper.
* The Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) said that as of 7 a.m. on October 28, prolonged heavy rains causing widespread flooding in the Central region have seriously affected the power system and there have been 376 power incidents due to flooding, of which 39 incidents have been restored.
Currently, EVNCPC has 306,729 customers without power, accounting for 17.6% of the total number of customers of the 3 Electricity Companies of Hue, Da Nang and Quang Tri, equivalent to 6.21% of the total number of customers of EVNCPC. The entire region has 2,975 distribution substations that are out of operation, accounting for 15.6% of the stations of the 3 units and 5.17% of the total stations of EVNCPC. The estimated affected power capacity is about 192 MW, equivalent to 5.27% of EVNCPC's maximum capacity (Pmax = 3,646 MW).
Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh, Deputy General Director, Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of EVNCPC, said that the Power Companies are maintaining 24/7 on-duty forces, closely coordinating with local authorities to ensure electrical safety for people, and promptly inspect and restore power supply as soon as the water recedes and safety conditions are ensured.
“EVNCPC prioritizes electrical safety in flood-affected areas. The Corporation has directed its units to concentrate human resources and materials, ready to restore power as soon as the weather permits, ensuring the safety of people and electrical equipment,” Deputy General Director Nguyen Huu Khanh affirmed.
