Patriotic emulation in ethnic minority areas

Implementing the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh: "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation, those who emulate are the most patriotic", in recent years, the patriotic emulation movement in ethnic minority areas in the province has been promoted, arousing the spirit of solidarity and the will to rise up, becoming an important driving force to promote socio-economic development, changing the face of rural and mountainous areas.

Exemplary locomotive

In the autumn days of October, Tam Thai hamlet, Dong Hy commune (Thai Nguyen province) seems to "put on" a new vitality. Concrete roads stretch to every small alley, spacious houses are interspersed with fruit-laden gardens. Tam Thai hamlet has more than 50% San Diu people, about 30% Ngai people and other ethnic groups living together. From a hamlet with many economic difficulties, with the efforts of households, the active contributions of people like Mr. Le Van Tien, a prestigious person in the community, the people of Tam Thai hamlet have united and effectively implemented emulation movements.

The people in the hamlet not only unanimously develop the economy but also preserve and promote the national cultural identity. For many consecutive years (2017-2024), Tam Thai hamlet was recognized as a "Cultural residential group". Mr. Le Van Tien himself was honored as a typical example in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2021-2025.

Mr. Tien shared: We identify 54 ethnic groups as Vietnamese people, with 7 ethnic groups living together here. We identify unity as the greatest strength. Once united, people will respond positively to any movement.

Having worked with Mr. Tien as a hamlet leader for many years, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Head of Tam Thai hamlet, said: Since 2017, Mr. Tien was elected as the Party cell secretary and has done many things for the hamlet, including things that he had never done before.

Specifically, in 2022, Mr. Tien and the hamlet leaders mobilized people to renovate the hamlet cultural house with a budget of nearly 1 billion VND, and in 2023 continued to mobilize people to build a communal house with a budget of nearly 2 billion VND, all contributed by the people.

In the mountainous and highland ethnic minority areas of the province, education has always been a focus area according to Uncle Ho's teaching "Education is the top national policy". In the recent period, the emulation movement to develop the education career in the ethnic minority areas of Thai Nguyen province has been promoted. At Sy Binh Kindergarten, Vinh Thong commune, in the first days of the new school year, the learning atmosphere was bustling and joyful.

Teacher Tran Thi Ha, Vice Principal in charge of Sy Binh Kindergarten, Vinh Thong commune, is always innovative in management and teaching.

Teacher Tran Thi Ha, in her role as Vice Principal in charge of Sy Binh Kindergarten, has promoted emulation movements throughout the unit, "Building a green, clean, beautiful, safe and friendly school". The teaching staff actively innovates teaching methods, increases the use of teaching equipment and appropriately applies information technology in teaching, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Thanks to that, although it is a mountainous commune with many economic difficulties, people feel secure in sending their children to school. In the 2023-2024 school year, Sy Binh Kindergarten was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training for "Innovation in teaching and learning management".

Teacher Tran Thi Ha herself has achieved many outstanding achievements. In the 2024-2025 school year, she was commended by the Department of Education and Training for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Innovation in teaching and learning management", becoming a shining example, encouraging the movement for the school's teaching staff to learn from.

Deep and wide emulation movements

In the emulation movement to develop the economy in ethnic minority areas, localities have determined that the main economic sector is still agricultural, forestry and fishery production. Therefore, in the highlands, the emulation movement "Developing the collective economy"; "Farmers compete in good production and business"; "Veterans do good business"... has been promoted to promote commodity production, create jobs and increase income for local workers.

At Dai Ha Cooperative, Bach Thong Commune, with the spirit of innovation in production, the Cooperative has applied modern production technology in greenhouses and membrane houses, creating many high-quality agricultural products such as melons, cantaloupes, safe vegetables and fruits..., with annual revenue reaching over 1 billion VND.

Excitedly leading us to the Korean melon garden in bloom, Mr. Bui Van To said: In the past, agricultural production depended heavily on the weather. Since investing in a greenhouse, our productivity and product quality have increased significantly. Currently, the melon product is not enough to supply the market, we are expanding the greenhouse area to more than 4,000m2, creating more jobs for many local workers.

One of the emulation movements that has created a wide spread and achieved outstanding results is the "Movement of the whole country joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025". In Yen Phong commune, one of the most disadvantaged communes in the province, since its launch, the movement has received the response of all levels, sectors and the majority of people, clearly demonstrating the spirit of "helping each other" of our nation.

With the participation of the entire political system, especially the Fatherland Front at all levels, the support of the armed forces and people in the commune, Yen Phong has so far eliminated 133 temporary houses according to the approved list as planned.

The widespread and effective implementation of emulation movements, associated with the implementation of national target programs, especially the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, has created a clear change in the rural appearance: Rural transport systems, irrigation, electricity, roads, schools, and rural stations have been invested synchronously, the poverty rate has decreased sharply over the years; the material and spiritual life of people in ethnic minority, mountainous, remote and isolated areas has been increasingly improved and enhanced.
