Candidates admitted through direct admission are only officially accepted upon enrollment.

Recently, Hanoi Medical University issued a decision recognizing candidates admitted to its regular undergraduate programs through direct admission. The National Economics University also announced the results of admissions through direct admission, priority admission, and preparatory university programs.

Accordingly, Hanoi Medical University has 129 students admitted to its regular undergraduate programs through direct admission. Of these, 108 are in the medical science program; 7 in the medical program at the Thanh Hoa branch; 8 in dentistry; 2 in medical laboratory technology; and 1 each in traditional medicine, advanced nursing program, rehabilitation technology, and ophthalmic refraction.

Meanwhile, the National Economics University is directly admitting 183 students who won first, second, or third prizes in international and national high school student competitions, as well as first prize in the 2023 National High School Graduation Science and Technology Competition.

Following this announcement, some questioned why students who had not yet graduated from high school were being called "successful"? They argued that using the term "successful" for any candidate who had not yet graduated from high school violated regulations.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper, Associate Professor Bui Duc Trieu, Head of the Training Department (National Economics University), said that the university's announcement was in accordance with the admission regulations and the schedule and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Accordingly, the admission process includes several stages: receiving applications for direct admission, announcing admission results, confirming enrollment, enrollment, issuing official admission decisions, and recognizing the candidate as a student of the school. Upon enrollment, candidates must submit all necessary documents, including their high school diploma or certificate of graduation (if they do not yet have one).

Professor Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of Hanoi Medical University, also stated that according to Plan 923/QD-BGDĐT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on March 30, July 5 is the deadline for universities to announce the results of direct admissions. The decision recognizing candidates admitted to the regular undergraduate program through direct admission at Hanoi Medical University reflects the results of that direct admission process. However, the official admission decision will only be issued after the students enroll at the university.

Mr. Pham Nhu Nghe, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), also stated that the announcement of direct admission results by universities at this time is in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the university admission schedule for 2023.

However, being on this list of admitted students does not mean that the student has been officially accepted. To receive the official admission decision, the schools must continue through many steps in the selection process; including the enrollment confirmation stage, which lasts more than a month and ends after all students have received their high school graduation exam results. After that, students must enroll, and only when they enroll are they officially admitted.
