Da Nang 10th grade entrance exam: Math scores increase, literature and English scores decrease sharply

Analysis of the test scores of all three subjects in the 2025 entrance exam to grade 10 of Da Nang City's public high schools shows that the scores of the literature and English tests decreased sharply, while the scores of the math test increased significantly.

According to the statistics of the 10th grade entrance exam scores in Da Nang in 2025-2026, 69.74% of the literature exams, 62.53% of the math exams and 56.61% of the English (foreign language) exams had scores of passing (average) or higher.

Analysis of the test scores of all three subjects in the 2025 entrance exam for grade 10 of Da Nang City's public high schools shows that the scores of the literature and English tests decreased sharply at all three levels of 5 points and above, 6.5 points and above, and 8 points and above. Meanwhile, the math scores increased significantly at all levels, especially the 6.5 points and above and the 8 points and above marks.

Specifically, this year there are 39 candidates with a score of 10 in math, higher than in 2024 (with 16 scores of 10 in math). Meanwhile, in English, only 64 candidates scored a score of 10, much lower than last year (316 scores of 10 in English).

This year's literature subject still had no candidates scoring 10 points, while only 391 candidates scored 8 points or higher (1,055 candidates scored 8 points or higher).

For other foreign languages, French test scores decreased slightly, Japanese increased at the 5-point mark but decreased at the high mark.

The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Da Nang city took place over 3 days: June 2, 3 and 4. There were 11,676 candidates registered to take the exam for 21 public high schools in the area and 1,243 candidates registered to take the 10th grade exam for Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.

The benchmark scores and exam scores were announced at the same time on the afternoon of June 15.

This year is the first entrance exam according to the 2018 general education program. Many teachers believe that this year's exam clearly shows the direction of innovation in assessment according to the program's requirements. Besides, there are also some controversial points in this year's literature exam.

After the exam, most candidates commented that some parts of the literature exam did not "clearly understand the requirements", many praised the new curriculum for being close to real life.

This year's 10th grade math exam was assessed by Da Nang candidates as easier than previous years.
