LoRaWan Wireless Soil Quality Meter Won the First Prize of SCAPA-2024 Competition

On November 8, Danang University coordinated with relevant units to organize the Smart City Conference: Experience and Innovation (ISSCEI-2024) and the International Final Round of the Smart Campus Asia- Pacific Competition 2024 (SCAPA-2024).

Attending the ISSCEI-2024 Conference were more than 150 domestic and international delegates and a large number of Da Nang students.

According to Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Nhan, Director of DNIIT Institute - Danang University, ISSCEI-2024 is a forum connecting a network of prestigious domestic and international scientists and experts related to the topic of smart city development.

The key contents are scientifically reported and discussed to suggest, identify and propose many ideas and solutions suitable for practice, catching up with the 4.0 Revolution with breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT; Promote digital transformation, apply smart technology to contribute to solving emerging challenges with sustainable solutions for Vietnam's cities, first of all, the dynamic, livable and worth-visiting city of Da Nang.

The highlight of the Workshop was the launching event of the LoRa platform of Da Nang city aiming to serve the community, established and chaired by the Department of Information and Communications and DNIIT Institute - Da Nang University. The exhibition booths of LoRa application technology by units and enterprises attracted the attention and active exchanges of delegates, were displayed and introduced to the Workshop.

The Final Round of the Smart Campus Asia-Pacific Competition 2024 (SCAPA-2024) was held with the participation of 12 excellent teams from leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region: National University of Laos; University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University; Hanoi University of Science and Technology; University of Science - Hue University; International Francophone Institute; Thang Long University and 6 teams from member universities of Danang University.

With the theme “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development”, the teams presented vividly and confidently about innovative technology application solutions such as AI, IoT and Robotics to bring values ​​and utilities for smarter urban development. According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, this is a competition initiated by DNIIT International Institute of Technology – Danang University since 2017.

From this playground, students not only develop their capacity, creative thinking, and learn from experience, but also connect and foster the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the young community with universities and businesses.

The Organizing Committee awarded 1 First prize (10 million VND/prize); 2 Second prizes (5.5 million VND/prize); 3 Third prizes (3 million VND/prize) to excellent teams with feasible and convincing projects for practical application.

In which, the Soil Quality Monitoring Application - 7-in-1 wireless loRaWan soil quality measuring device of students from the University of Science and Technology - Danang University won the first prize; two second prizes went to the LoRaWAN solution for soil, water and environment monitoring - LoRaWAN to monitor soil, water and environment of a group of students from the National University of Laos and the Flood Detection and Early Warning Network System solution based on LoRaWAN - IOT technology - Flood detection and early warning system based on LoRaWAN and IoT technology of a group of students from the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.
