Thunderstorms in many areas

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the afternoon and night of July 14, the mountainous areas of the North will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 15-30mm, and some places experiencing over 70mm.

Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Khanh Hoa , Central Highlands and the South have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 60mm.

Areas under precaution during thunderstorms are subject to the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.

Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas. Warning level 1 of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning and hail.

On the night of July 13 and early morning of July 14, there was heavy rain in the mountainous areas of the North and the Southeast. The rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on July 13 to 3:00 a.m. on July 14 was over 60mm in some places, such as: Dong Vien station (Thai Nguyen) 123.6mm, Kan Ho 1 station (Lai Chau) 68mm, Nam Luc 1 station (Lao Cai) 64.2mm, Minh Lap station ( Binh Phuoc ) 88.4mm,...

Potential for tornadoes and strong winds in many coastal areas

At sea, there are currently scattered showers and thunderstorms in the South China Sea (including Truong Sa special zone), the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau and the Gulf of Thailand.

Forecast, day and night of July 14, the Northern Gulf of Tonkin, the central and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone), the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and waves over 2m high during thunderstorms.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

According to the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, affected coastal provinces and cities must closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle possible bad situations.
