The article “Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one” by General Secretary To Lam has become the focus of a special series of articles by the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Prensa Latina quoted an article by General Secretary To Lam, emphasizing that the policy of national reconciliation is "a long-term strategic choice, a pillar in the great national unity bloc."
Vietnamese leaders affirmed that national reconciliation does not mean forgetting history or erasing differences, but accepting different perspectives in a spirit of tolerance and respect, to work together towards a greater goal: Building a peaceful , unified, powerful, civilized, and prosperous Vietnam.
The article quoted the General Secretary sharing about his emotional meetings with overseas Vietnamese - people who, despite their political differences, share the same love for the Fatherland.
In particular, the Vietnamese leader also mentioned the humane meetings between veterans from two sides who were once enemies during the war, and who can now shake hands in a spirit of reconciliation.

Prensa Latina commented that after 50 years of national reunification, Vietnam has demonstrated the strength of national unity and the desire for peace. The message of General Secretary To Lam - "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one" - is not only an eternal truth but also a command from the heart of the entire nation, continuing to lead the country on the path of development and integration.
The Latin American news agency devoted many in-depth articles, vividly depicting the atmosphere of preparation for the grand parade in Ho Chi Minh City - where half a century ago, the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign ended the long march for national independence and unification.
According to Prensa Latina reporter in Hanoi, all preparations for the solemn parade in Ho Chi Minh City were completed after the rehearsal on April 27.
The event is expected to gather about 13,000 participants, including armed forces, mass organizations and especially the first participation of military representatives from three friendly countries: China, Laos and Cambodia.
More than 20 international delegations, including 3 high-level delegations, 4 ministerial-level delegations and representatives of 15 different political parties will attend the event.
In addition to the ground parade, the program also featured an impressive performance by helicopter squadrons and Su-30MK2 fighters flying over the city, dragging the national flag and the flag of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
More than 50 parade groups including armed forces, police, militia and self-defense forces, and representatives of all walks of life will participate in the official celebration at 6:30 a.m. on April 30.
Celebration activities in Ho Chi Minh City - the former liberated Saigon - began on April 19 with a special art program "A Country Full of Joy" and a concert "Symphony of Peace" with the participation of General Secretary To Lam.
On this occasion, Party leaders met with heroes and generals who participated in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
Prensa Latina quoted General Secretary To Lam as emphasizing that the April 30, 1975 victory was not only a victory of indomitable will and the strength of great national unity under the leadership of the Party, but also a symbol of the aspiration for national independence, freedom and peace. It was the crystallization of the blood and heroic sacrifices of millions of compatriots and soldiers across the country./.
