This morning, April 26, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary (1995-2025).

According to Professor Dr. Ho Dac Loc, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, in the 90s of the last century, in response to concerns about the small number of universities and creating higher education opportunities for students after high school, along with the Government's policy of socializing education, the idea of establishing a private university in the field of engineering was born.

And on April 26, 1995, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the predecessor of today's HUTECH, was officially established.

On May 19, 2010, the school officially changed from public to private according to the Prime Minister's decision, with the name Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

From a university with only 3 initial majors, HUTECH has now trained 35,000 students in 60 majors from undergraduate to doctoral levels.

Present at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong shared: "After 30 years of establishment and development, with the continuous efforts of investors, teachers, scientists, and the training and learning of students, HUTECH has become a multidisciplinary and multi-level university. With a training scale of up to 35,000 students and more than 100,000 graduates working in different fields, HUTECH has made practical contributions to the development of human resources for the country".

In the context of the Party and State identifying science, technology, innovation and training high-quality human resources as strategic breakthroughs, Mr. Thuong said that HUTECH needs to perfect its development strategy with 5 pillars.

The first is to develop a team of lecturers, attract and train policies to have a team with high professional qualifications, skills and abilities to inspire learners.

Second is to continuously update the program, curriculum, and teaching methods according to international standards, meeting social needs. Training content needs to be practical, equipping students with the ability to adapt and be creative so that when they graduate, they can not only develop themselves but also take care of their families and contribute to society.

Third is to promote science, technology and innovation by promoting applied research, technology transfer, and cooperation with businesses to promote strengths. At the same time, continue to improve position through quality assessment and prestigious domestic and international education rankings.

Fourth is to strengthen facilities and equipment. Accordingly, synchronous investment and modernization of facilities are needed so that learners and teachers have enough space and equipment for teaching, practice, experimentation and field work.

And finally, expand international cooperation. Specifically, strengthen links with prestigious universities and educational institutions to access advanced training programs, modern technology, and improve global integration capacity.

In addition to the strategic pillars, Mr. Thuong especially emphasized the role of students - the center of all educational activities. "In addition to equipping students with knowledge and skills, it is necessary to focus on personality training, helping them become citizens with ideals, ethics and a sense of responsibility. Moreover, this must be a place to inspire the spirit of self-study, proactively access knowledge, practice critical thinking and flexibly adapt to the constantly changing era", Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong noted.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology was awarded the Government's emulation flag, the 30-year traditional flag of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the 4-star QS-Star certificate for the second cycle and the AUN-QA standard certificate for training programs in information technology, management information systems, electrical engineering and multimedia communications.
