Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Speedily and resolutely build and repair houses for people in flood-affected areas

On the morning of December 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting to hear a report on the progress of the "Quang Trung Campaign" to rapidly rebuild and repair houses for households whose houses collapsed, fell, were swept away, or were severely damaged by recent storms and floods.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies; leaders of provinces and cities: Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang , Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong.

According to reports from ministries, departments, and localities, the recent storms caused severe damage in many areas, resulting in 1,635 houses collapsing and 39,461 houses being severely damaged. In response, the Prime Minister launched the "Quang Trung Campaign" to rapidly rebuild and repair houses for families whose homes were damaged by the natural disaster.

As of December 8, 2025, localities have started construction of 971 houses (479 houses have been completed); 664 houses have not started construction; 34,627 houses have been repaired; 3,943 houses are being repaired; and 891 houses have not started repair.

In Dak Lak, a locality that suffered heavy damage after recent natural disasters and floods, after checking, the whole province has 639 houses that need to be rebuilt; 880 houses were severely damaged and 5,240 houses had their roofs blown off or were slightly damaged and needed to be repaired. To date, the locality has started to build 176 new houses; it is expected to continue to start building 233 more houses in the following week. At the same time, the locality is also speeding up the repair of slightly damaged houses to ensure people have a place to live and work.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended localities and units, especially the police and military forces, for their proactive and active efforts in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods; focusing on stabilizing people's lives, production, and restoring homes. At the same time, the Prime Minister also severely criticized localities for not promptly overcoming the consequences and taking care of people's lives after natural disasters and storms and floods.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out: In addition to State resources, it is necessary to mobilize resources from the whole society to participate in supporting the construction and repair of houses for people. If there are any problems or difficulties, they should be reported immediately to the Government and the Prime Minister for consideration and resolution. Propose that the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations and unions launch a movement to participate in supporting people in building and repairing houses; request that news agencies and newspapers actively promote, praise, encourage and disseminate good models in implementing the campaign.

Therefore, it needs to be done quickly, even more quickly; carried out with all responsibility to the people and with all the love from the heart, with the goal of completing the repair of damaged houses before December 31, 2025 and completing the construction of new houses before January 31, 2026; encouraging early completion so that people can soon stabilize their lives,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
