Ambassador Nguyen Manh Tuan of Vietnam to the UAE and other attendees at the meeting stated that the Vietnamese community in the UAE numbers approximately 5,000 people. As a relatively new community, formed about 20 years ago, the members generally strive to improve their lives, abide by the law, and integrate well into the local community. They remain united, helping each other with a spirit of mutual support and maintaining a connection to their homeland, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Ambassador, there are increasingly more Vietnamese workers with high qualifications and skills, many Vietnamese restaurants, and many businesses owned by Vietnamese people in the UAE. Many large Vietnamese corporations are also present in the country. Currently, the Association of Vietnamese People in the UAE and the Vietnamese Business Club in the UAE are being promoted for establishment.
At the meeting, Vietnamese people in the UAE expressed their joy and confidence in the increasingly strong future development of their country, as well as the good and continuously nurtured relationship between Vietnam and the UAE; they were proud of Vietnam's commitments, efforts, and contributions to the world in responding to climate change; and they expressed their emotion at the care and attention of the Party and State for the Vietnamese community abroad, including Vietnamese people in the UAE.
The participants also shared about the difficulties and advantages of their work and life in the UAE; they also made some suggestions and recommendations, hoping for more opportunities to contribute to their homeland and to feel more confident in their lives, studies, work, and careers.

Sharing his thoughts with representatives of the Vietnamese diaspora, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his emotion and extended his heartfelt greetings and warmest wishes to all Vietnamese people living, working, studying, and serving in the UAE.
The Prime Minister stated that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the UAE has developed well in recent years. Both sides wish to deepen the relationship, making it more substantive and effective. The UAE considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields. In particular, 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UAE.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, since establishing diplomatic relations in August 1993, the two sides have regularly exchanged delegations at all levels. The two countries consistently support each other in international forums and organizations.
Economically, the UAE is Vietnam's leading trade and investment partner in the Middle East region, with trade turnover in recent years consistently reaching approximately US$5 billion. In the first 10 months of 2023 alone, total bilateral trade between Vietnam and the UAE was estimated at nearly US$4 billion, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period in 2022.
The two countries are negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and are working towards finalizing and signing the agreement. The UAE is one of the largest investors in Vietnam, with 38 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Vietnam totaling $71.4 million in registered investment capital.

The Prime Minister stated that, in recent discussions, the President of the UAE affirmed that there are no restrictions on Vietnamese goods entering the UAE and expressed a desire to cooperate with Vietnam to establish a Microsoft research center in Vietnam.
Labor cooperation is also an important area in bilateral relations, with up to 30,000 Vietnamese workers in the UAE at its peak, and the UAE side wishing to receive even more Vietnamese workers. The Prime Minister believes that labor cooperation needs to be further promoted, focusing on both quantity and quality, and prioritizing training.
These also serve as foundations for the Vietnamese community in the UAE to continue developing in a positive direction, growing stronger, and achieving the status and identity desired by the Party and the State.
The Prime Minister stated that he requested the UAE to continue creating more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work, integrate deeply, and make positive contributions to the development of the UAE as well as the friendly relations between the two countries, while always looking towards their homeland.
The Prime Minister affirmed that "Vietnamese people abroad are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese national community"; the Party and State always attach importance to consolidating and promoting national unity and international solidarity, paying attention to, caring for, and supporting overseas Vietnamese to stabilize, integrate into their host societies, preserve the Vietnamese language and cultural identity, and at the same time encourage and create favorable conditions for them to actively contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

The Prime Minister requested the Embassy to effectively implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines regarding overseas Vietnamese, always performing consular duties well, resolving legal issues for overseas Vietnamese effectively, and simplifying procedures as much as possible; to maintain complete information and data on overseas Vietnamese, such as individual addresses, to facilitate contact when necessary, and to provide timely care for their material and spiritual well-being; to continue to unite and strengthen the community, promoting national and international solidarity, especially in times of difficulty and hardship, building an increasingly stable and prosperous community, connecting with Vietnamese communities in the Gulf countries, preserving national identity and homeland, educating children about their roots, and maintaining the Vietnamese language.
"The greatest goal of the Party and the State is to build a strong and prosperous country, where the people are increasingly well-off and happy, and no one is left behind," the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister acknowledged and addressed some of the opinions, suggestions, aspirations, and proposals from the people; he stated that he would direct relevant ministries, agencies, and organizations to focus on reviewing and researching these issues, and to promptly develop appropriate solutions in a constructive, timely, and thorough manner.
