Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh begins working visit to Laos

The Prime Minister's working trip to Laos takes place in the context of the Vietnam-Laos political relationship and strategic trust continuing to be consolidated and tightened, affirming the overall orientation in the relationship between the two countries.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, at 9:30 a.m. on December 2, the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, starting a working trip to Laos to attend the High-level Meeting between the two Parties and co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Minister, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Bouakhong Nammavong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , leader of Vientiane capital, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh; Chief of Office of Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Viengsan Chantha; and leaders of Departments under the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; representatives of Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos, embassy staff, and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

During the working trip, along with attending the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Prime Minister will co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee with the Lao Prime Minister; and conduct bilateral activities with Laos such as meeting with high-ranking Lao leaders; and co-chairing the Vietnam-Laos Economic Forum.

At the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two Government delegations will review and assess the implementation of agreements in the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan for the 2021-2025 period and 2025; at the same time, discuss and agree on cooperation directions and tasks for the 2026-2030 period and 2026, in order to concretize the Conclusion of the Meeting of the two Politburoes.

After more than 60 years of establishing diplomatic relations, inheriting and promoting the tradition of special solidarity between the two countries, the two sides agreed to elevate the relationship to a new height of strategic cohesion.

The two sides promoted existing cooperation mechanisms, especially through meetings and exchanges between the two General Secretaries and senior leaders of the two countries' Parties and States; at the same time, reviewed and adjusted cooperation mechanisms in accordance with the realities of both sides; the two sides also focused on exchanging strategic issues, guidelines and policies related to security and development.

The two sides have successfully coordinated to organize many important foreign affairs activities between high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two States.

Senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries exchanged in-depth, comprehensive and substantive views on core issues. Many key cooperation issues and projects were thoroughly resolved, creating momentum to promote strong development of cooperation and deepen the close relationship between the two Parties and two countries.

Defense, security and foreign affairs cooperation continues to have new developments, going into depth and effectiveness, and is a pillar in Vietnam-Laos relations.

Economic, cultural, educational and scientific-technical cooperation has seen positive changes. Cooperation between departments, ministries, branches, committees of the National Assembly, Fatherland Front, unions, people's organizations and localities of the two countries continues to be promoted and become more substantial...

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to Laos this time aims to immediately implement high-level agreements between the two Parties; contribute to promoting the development of relations with Laos; demonstrate the determination of the two Governments in realizing the Agreement between the two Politburoes, bringing the relationship between the two countries to the level of "strategic connection"./.
