Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Cambodia to continue granting citizenship to people of Vietnamese origin residing in Cambodia; to promote border cooperation; and to coordinate efforts in combating transnational crimes.
On the afternoon of February 19th, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia Sar Sokha, who was visiting and working in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Cambodia to continue granting citizenship to people of Vietnamese origin residing in Cambodia; to promote border cooperation; and to coordinate efforts to combat transnational crimes, especially drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online fraud rings.
Welcoming Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Sar Sokha to Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed his best wishes and greetings to the President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet, and other senior Cambodian leaders.
At the same time, we congratulate the Cambodian people on the great and comprehensive achievements they have made in recent years; and we are confident that Cambodia will continue to achieve even greater successes in building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Cambodia.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at the continued strengthening and comprehensive development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations, affirming that Vietnam always attaches great importance and gives top priority to continuously consolidating and developing the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability with Cambodia; and always supports a peaceful, stable, prosperous Cambodia whose role and position are increasingly affirmed in the region and the world.
Recalling Cambodia's assistance in Vietnam's struggle for national independence and Vietnam's support for Cambodia against the Pol Pot genocidal regime, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, welcoming the very successful results of the talks between the two ministers, which demonstrated a deep understanding and sharing between the two sides, making an important contribution to concretizing high-level agreements.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the two Ministries would develop a friendly cooperative relationship, jointly address issues of mutual concern, and strengthen exchanges and sharing on strategic issues.
Simultaneously, effectively coordinate and advise senior leaders of both countries on security matters, while promptly and effectively resolving issues arising from the grassroots level; cooperate in digital transformation, building databases on the population, etc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that in the coming period, Cambodia and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior continue to pay attention to and direct the strengthening of cooperation in combating various types of crime, especially transnational crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online fraud rings using Cambodia as a base of operations.
Simultaneously, we will combat hostile forces that undermine the two countries and their relations; and rescue and repatriate Vietnamese citizens who are being detained or forced into labor due to online fraud in Cambodia.
In particular, we will promote the consideration and granting of citizenship to people of Vietnamese origin who live and work stably and legally, integrate well into the local society, and serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries; and promote the demarcation and placement of border markers, resolving outstanding issues along the border, and building a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative, and mutually developing border.
Expressing sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking the time to receive the delegation, and conveying greetings and congratulations from the President of the Senate, Chairman of the CPP Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet, and other Cambodian leaders to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of Cambodia Sar Sokha stated that the delegation's visit to Vietnam this time continues to implement the agreements and cooperation mechanisms agreed upon by the high-level leaders of the two countries.
At the same time, it was affirmed that, in recent times, Cambodia's socio-economic situation has continued to recover and develop strongly, but this is inseparable from the cooperation and assistance of Vietnam.
Agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's opinion and stating that in the current context, each country cannot develop alone but must cooperate and develop together, especially with traditional neighboring countries, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of Cambodia expressed his appreciation for the achievements of Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation that generations of leaders and people of the two countries have established.
Young Cambodian leaders like him will continue to promote and constantly cultivate the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship to make it increasingly effective, substantive, and strong.
In fulfilling its functions and responsibilities, the Cambodian Ministry of Interior will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and other ministries, agencies, and localities to effectively combat all types of crime, especially drug-related crimes and cyber fraud.
Simultaneously, we will promote exchanges of delegations and cooperation in human resource training; educate the people of both countries, especially the younger generation, about the tradition of good relations between the two countries; continue to cultivate Vietnam-Cambodia relations; and consider the legal status and create favorable conditions for people of Vietnamese origin to live and work stably and legally in Cambodia.
