Quang Tri province is considering the investment plan for a pellet energy project.
The Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Office announced that the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has given his opinion regarding the appraisal report of the Austwood Quang Tri Energy Wood Pellet Production Plant project of Austwood Quang Tri Joint Stock Company.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Ha Sy Dong, based on the working regulations of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee's Executive Committee, 17th term, 2020-2025, the Austwood Quang Tri energy wood pellet factory project has a total investment of 465 billion VND, therefore the project must be submitted to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for approval of the investment policy as prescribed.
Previously, on May 15th, the Quang Tri Department of Planning and Investment submitted an appraisal report and proposal for approval of the investment policy to the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee regarding the Austwood Quang Tri Energy Wood Pellet Production Plant project.

The Austwood Quang Tri Energy Wood Pellet Factory project, proposed by Austwood Quang Tri Joint Stock Company, has a total investment of VND 465 billion (VND 93 billion contributed by investors and VND 372 billion raised). The project is located on land parcels No. 26 and 27 - on cadastral map No. 35, in Quang Xa village, Vinh Long commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province.
The project aims to build a professional, modern, high-productivity wood pellet production plant that provides high-quality, economically efficient products to enhance the value chain of the wood processing industry for export to demanding markets, contributing to improving the local and national economic efficiency.
The project is planned to utilize 10.12 hectares of land. The designed capacity, including the wood pellet production system, warehousing, machinery, equipment, and auxiliary facilities, is 150,000 tons of pellets per year. The products and services offered are biomass products in the form of wood fibers, processed using a pressing technology to create high-caloric fuel pellets exceeding 4,500 kcal/kg. Construction is expected to commence in Q4 2024 and be completed and operational in Q2 2026.
According to the investor, the raw materials for the production process are expected to come from forestry units in Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces. Currently, the investor has a preliminary contract for the supply of acacia wood from planted forests and cooperation in developing FSC-certified forest plantations with the Ben Hai River Basin Protection Forest Management Board. The raw materials are guaranteed to have FSC certification; the exported pellets meet EN/EN Plus product standards, or those of Japan and South Korea.
