The Office of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had given his opinion regarding the appraisal report of the Austwood Quang Tri Energy Pellet Factory project of Austwood Quang Tri Joint Stock Company.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Ha Sy Dong, based on the working regulations of the Executive Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, term XVII, 2020 - 2025, the Austwood Quang Tri Energy Wood Pellet Factory project has a total investment of 465 billion VND, so the project must be submitted to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for approval of the investment policy according to regulations.

Previously, on May 15, the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Tri province had an appraisal report and proposed approval of the investment policy to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province regarding the Austwood Quang Tri Energy Pellet Factory project.

The Austwood Quang Tri Energy Wood Pellet Factory Project was proposed by Austwood Quang Tri Joint Stock Company with a total investment of 465 billion VND (investor contributed capital 93 billion VND, mobilized capital 372 billion VND). The project is located on land plots 26 and 27 - on cadastral map sheet 35, Quang Xa village, Vinh Long commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province.

The project's objective is to build a professional, modern, high-productivity wood pellet factory, providing high-quality, economically efficient products to enhance the value chain of wood processing products for export to demanding markets, contributing to improving the economic efficiency of the locality as well as the whole country.

The project has an expected land area of ​​10.12 hectares. The designed capacity with a system of producing energy wood pellets, warehouses, machinery and equipment and auxiliary works with a capacity of 150,000 tons of pellets/year. Products and services provided: biomass products in the form of wood fibers through pressing technology to form fuel pellets with high calorific value of over 4,500 kcal/kg. The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024 and be completed and put into operation in the second quarter of 2026.

According to the investor, the raw materials for the production process are expected to come from forest plantation units in Quang Tri and Quang Binh. Currently, the investor has provided a contract in principle on the supply of planted acacia wood and cooperation in developing FSC forest plantation with the Ben Hai River Basin Protection Forest Management Board. The raw materials are guaranteed to have FSC certification; the exported pellet products meet the product standards EN/EN Plus,... or those of Japan and Korea.
