300 tons of sweet potatoes were sold through TikTok Shop after 2 months

According to data from TikTok Shop, after the success of the "Sin Ho Vuong Minh" campaign, the total output of sweet potato consumed through TikTok Shop in September and October reached more than 300 tons - an impressive milestone showing the power of e-commerce in bringing highland agricultural products closer to consumers nationwide. The results also show the potential of a new direction to help people in mountainous areas and ethnic minorities increase their income and join hands to develop the digital economy .

Notably, most of the sellers participating in the livestream session were ethnic minority women living in the area, showing a strong spirit of participation from the local women's community. The livestream session was accompanied by Mr. Le Ba Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sin Ho commune, Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Nga, Chairman of the Women's Union of Sin Ho commune and Ms. Tran Thi Tan, Director of Social Responsibility, TikTok Shop.

Directly participating in sales with local people, attracting more than 4.5 million views, Mr. Le Ba Son and Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Nga enthusiastically introduced to consumers nationwide the nutritional and economic value of the ground ginseng root, and expressed their emotion at the efforts and positive results that local women have achieved thanks to proactive sales through e-commerce.

Sharing about the significance of this milestone, Mr. Le Ba Son said: “The success of the campaign shows the strong economic resilience of women in the highlands when given the opportunity and tools to access the large market through e-commerce. The effort to bring local agricultural specialties, especially sweet potatoes, to TikTok Shop not only brings direct economic value to many households in Sin Ho but is also opening a new direction for ethnic minorities on the journey to access and participate in the digital economy."

Along with sales activities, within the framework of the program, TikTok Shop implements a specialized training program to help equip knowledge on channel building, content creation and booth operation on TikTok Shop. This is also a place where experienced women in the seller community share secrets, inspire and give practical lessons to beginners.

Building a socio-economic development model for mountainous areas and ethnic minorities

Participating in the Women's Congress of Sin Ho commune on the morning of October 28, Ms. Tran Thi Tan, Director of Social Responsibility of TikTok Shop, also gave a speech and shared TikTok Shop's orientation in contributing to the national goal of socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

According to Ms. Tan, Sin Ho commune has a lot of potential waiting to be awakened: precious products, a close-knit community and a high spirit of progress, which is an ideal starting point for TikTok Shop's journey to accompany the people of the highlands to rise up. "Sin Ho Vuong Minh" should not be seen as just a single trade promotion program for a highland commune. Through this program, TikTok Shop aims to build a model to implement national policies on socio-economic development for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas through the application of technology and e-commerce. Hoping that the model can be replicated nationwide, after the success of Sin Ho, TikTok Shop will continue to survey and expand the model to other communes and provinces to support ethnic minority communities, especially highland women, to develop sustainable livelihoods, increase income and promote the local economy.

"Sin Ho Vuon Minh is a testament to our long-term commitment to creating change, where technology truly serves the sustainable development of the community. TikTok Shop, with its strong technology platform, is committed to supporting digital infrastructure and digital capacity for highland people, especially ethnic women, to gradually break down geographical and technological barriers. This will be an important step forward for highland people to have equal opportunities with lowland people in participating in the digital economy," said Ms. Tran Thi Tan.

TikTok Shop's socio-economic development model for highland and ethnic minority areas focuses on two key pillars: training and community building. The specialized training program equips modern business thinking and basic to advanced knowledge on channel building, content creation, and store operation on TikTok Shop. From there, TikTok Shop coordinates with local authorities to launch an economic movement and community building so that highland and ethnic minority people can learn, support, and develop together.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Bich Hong (Miss Ba Tay Bac), who has made great contributions in creating and leading the seller community in Sin Ho, said: “In Sin Ho, we often tell each other that each order sent is an affirmation that we can break the stereotypes about women doing business. By joining TikTok Shop, we are not only looking for opportunities to increase our income but also laying the foundations for the road ahead, where women in the highlands confidently rise up to become economic masters."

Ms. Vu Thi Chu, a Mong ethnic, an active and prominent member of the "Sin Ho Vuon Minh" vendor community, shared: "This journey has given me the opportunity to learn new things that I have not had the chance to learn, bringing me an income that I probably could not have dreamed of in my entire life. My children will not have to drop out of school early, and I have been able to create jobs for some people around me. I feel more valuable and want to inspire disadvantaged women like me, so that they will no longer be shy, and earn money to help their lives."

Ms. Chu said that there was a period of time when she did not earn a million VND for a whole month. However, thanks to actively creating content to sell sweet potatoes through TikTok Shop, Ms. Chu now has an income of up to tens of millions of VND from the platform.

"Sin Ho Vuong Minh" is also part of the "women's boss" campaign initiated by TikTok Shop in October to honor the spirit of ownership and aspirations of Vietnamese women in the digital age. The campaign aims to give Vietnamese women confidence and tools to find confidence in themselves, dare to dream and act, thereby opening a new journey for themselves, their families and society.
