300 tons of wild yam were sold through TikTok Shop after 2 months.
According to data from TikTok Shop, following the success of the "Sìn Hồ Rising Up" campaign, the total amount of wild yam sold through TikTok Shop in September and October reached over 300 tons – an impressive milestone demonstrating the power of e-commerce in bringing highland agricultural products closer to consumers nationwide. The results also show the potential of this new approach to help mountainous communities and ethnic minorities increase their income and contribute to the development of the digital economy .
Notably, the majority of vendors participating in the live session were women from ethnic minority groups living in the area, demonstrating a strong commitment from the local women's community. The livestream was supported by Mr. Le Ba Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sin Ho Commune, Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Nga, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Sin Ho Commune, and Ms. Tran Thi Tan, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, TikTok Shop.

Directly participating in sales alongside local people, attracting over 4.5 million views, Mr. Le Ba Son and Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Nga enthusiastically introduced the nutritional and economic value of the "ginseng potato" to consumers nationwide, while also expressing their emotion at the efforts and positive results achieved by women in the area thanks to proactively selling through e-commerce.
Sharing his thoughts on the significance of this milestone, Mr. Le Ba Son said: “The success of the campaign demonstrates the strong economic resilience of women in mountainous areas when given the opportunity and tools to access a larger market through e-commerce. The effort to bring local agricultural specialties, especially ginseng potatoes, to TikTok Shop not only brings direct economic value to many households in Sin Ho but is also opening up a new path for ethnic minorities on their journey to access and participate in the digital economy.”
Alongside sales activities, as part of the program, TikTok Shop implements a specialized training program to equip participants with knowledge on channel building, content creation, and store operation on TikTok Shop. This is also a place where experienced female sellers in the community share their secrets, inspire others, and provide practical lessons for beginners.
Developing socio-economic development models for mountainous regions and ethnic minority communities.
Attending the Women's Congress of Sin Ho commune on the morning of October 28th, Ms. Tran Thi Tan, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at TikTok Shop, also presented a paper and shared TikTok Shop's direction in contributing to the national goal of socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

According to Ms. Tan, Sin Ho commune, with its many untapped potentials—valuable products, a close-knit community, and a strong spirit of progress—is an ideal starting point for TikTok Shop's journey to support the people of the highlands in their development. "Sin Ho's Growth" should not be viewed merely as a single trade promotion program for a highland commune. Through this program, TikTok Shop aims to build a model for implementing national policies on socio-economic development for ethnic minorities and mountainous communities through the application of technology and e-commerce. Hoping the model can be replicated nationwide, following the success of Sin Ho, TikTok Shop will continue to survey and expand the model to other communes and provinces to support ethnic minority communities, especially highland women, in developing sustainable livelihoods, increasing income, and boosting the local economy.
"Sìn Hồ's Resilience is a testament to our long-term commitment to creating change, where technology truly serves the sustainable development of the community. TikTok Shop, with its strong technology platform, is committed to supporting digital infrastructure and digital capabilities for people in mountainous areas, especially ethnic minority women, to gradually break down geographical and technological barriers. This will be an important step to give people in mountainous areas equal opportunities to participate in the digital economy," said Ms. Tran Thi Tan.
TikTok Shop's socio-economic development model for mountainous regions and ethnic minorities focuses on two key elements: training and community building. The specialized training program equips participants with modern business thinking and knowledge ranging from basic to advanced levels in channel building, content creation, and store operation on TikTok Shop. From there, TikTok Shop collaborates with local authorities to launch economic and community-building initiatives, enabling people in mountainous areas and ethnic minorities to learn, support, and develop together.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Bich Hong (Co Ba Tay Bac), who has played a significant role in creating and leading the community of sellers in Sin Ho, said: “In Sin Ho, we often say to each other that every order we send is an affirmation that we can break down stereotypes about women in business. By joining TikTok Shop, we not only seek opportunities to increase our income but also lay the foundation for the road ahead, where women in the highlands can confidently rise up and become self-sufficient.”
Ms. Vu Thi Chu, a Mong ethnic woman and an active and prominent member of the "Sin Ho Rising Up" sales community, shared: "This journey has given me the opportunity to learn new things I hadn't learned before, and has brought me an income I probably wouldn't have dared to dream of in my lifetime. My children won't have to drop out of school early, and I've been able to create jobs for some people around me. I feel more valuable and want to inspire disadvantaged women like myself, so they no longer feel shy and can earn money to help improve their lives."
Ms. Chứ said there was a time when she didn't earn a single million VND for an entire month. However, thanks to actively creating content to sell ginseng root through TikTok Shop, Ms. Chứ now earns tens of millions of VND from the platform.
"Sìn Hồ's Empowerment" is also part of the "Empowering Women" campaign initiated by TikTok Shop in October to celebrate the spirit of empowerment and the aspirations of Vietnamese women in the digital age. The campaign aims to empower Vietnamese women with the confidence and tools to find self-belief, dare to dream and act, thereby opening up a new journey for themselves, their families, and society.
