Free tuition, lunch support - New school year mark
From the 2025-2026 school year, preschool and primary school students nationwide will officially be exempted from tuition fees. In Hanoi, the locality with the largesteducation scale in the country with more than 2.3 million preschool and primary school students, current tuition fees range from 19,000 to more than 200,000 VND/month depending on the level of study and location.
In particular, on July 9, the Hanoi People's Council passed a resolution regulating the mechanism for supporting meals for primary school students. With a total estimated budget of more than VND3,000 billion, this policy will apply to about 768,000 students at public and private schools in the capital.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed that exempting tuition fees and providing lunch is a concrete step to realize the direction of the Central Government and the city on comprehensive education development, clearly demonstrating the commitment to prioritizing education.

I met Ms. Duong Bich Ngoc on the day she and her child went to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for treatment. Ms. Ngoc confided that for 17 years now, she and her child have been fighting against congenital hemolytic anemia (Thalassemia - a genetic disorder that causes chronic anemia). A few months after giving birth to her son Nguyen Duong Hung, she saw that he was showing unusual symptoms, so she took him for a check-up and discovered that he had Thalassemia, which meant that she also had the disease because it is a genetic disease.
Living with thalassemia means that the Thalassemia Center (National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion) becomes the patient's second home.
