The situation of 2 Vietnamese workers who fell off a cliff in Taiwan while hiding from the police

The Department of Overseas Labor Management said that according to a report from the Labor Management Board (Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei), this unit contacted the authorities of Taiwan (China) after receiving information related to 2 Vietnamese workers falling into a ravine and being seriously injured.

This worker worked for Ngai Cu Construction Joint Stock Company and since November 2019, has left.

The second victim was a TVL worker who entered Taiwan (China) on September 2, 2023 as a tourist .

According to information from Nantou County Police, on September 17, police received a report from local residents suspecting that some foreign workers, while working on the tea hills, had stolen jackfruit from local residents' gardens.

So the police went to the scene to verify. When they saw the police coming, 3 Vietnamese workers who were picking tea quickly ran away. One worker in the group escaped, while Mr. PVĐ and Mr. TVL fell into a 60m deep abyss while running away.

Local authorities mobilized search and rescue vehicles and by 3:00 p.m. the same day, the two workers were brought up from the abyss in an unconscious state.

After being taken to the emergency room, Mr. PVĐ. is being treated in the intensive care unit with broken ribs, lung and liver damage. Mr. TVL. has a broken leg and has undergone surgery.

The Labor Management Board reported and requested the Department of Overseas Labor Management, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to notify MILACO International Construction, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company so that the enterprise can support in notifying the PVĐ employee's family to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens abroad.

In addition, this unit also proposed to closely coordinate with the Board in the process of resolving the case in Taiwan (China).

Previously, social networks spread a clip of an alleged illegal Vietnamese worker in Taiwan (China) being seriously injured while fleeing from the police.

According to information posted in the clip, when the three men were picking tea, a group of people wearing Taiwanese (Chinese) police uniforms appeared. Upon seeing the police, the three men immediately ran away.

One person ran past the tea row to move to the right, two people ran straight, then took turns jumping down.

In another clip, two men were seen lying motionless after falling into the abyss. Local authorities mobilized people and equipment to rescue the workers. The two men were later brought out of the abyss with serious injuries.
