Members of the Politburo , former members of the Politburo, former Presidents, former Prime Ministers, former Chairmen of the National Assembly, former leaders of the Party and State, along with the families of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap and the late General Phung Quang Thanh, sent wreaths to pay respects to General Nguyen Quyet.

Delegations from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, led by General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense; and the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security, led by Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Party Committee of Public Security and Deputy Minister of Public Security, paid their respects to General Nguyen Quyet.

A delegation from the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, led by City Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai, paid their respects to General Nguyen Quyet.

Delegations from central and local ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as representatives from international organizations, visited to pay their respects to General Nguyen Quyet and offer condolences to his family.

Expressing his condolences for General Nguyen Quyet, General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, wrote in the condolence book: “The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam respectfully pays tribute to Comrade General Nguyen Quyet, a staunch communist who participated in leading the Vietnamese revolution, a brilliant general of the People's Army, and an outstanding son of Hung Yen province.”

Comrade's revolutionary life began very early, during the country's very difficult times, but he was enlightened very early, correctly understood the Party's revolutionary path, and participated in leading the revolution and the army to achieve one victory after another, bringing glory to the country and his homeland.

"Comrade's life is a shining example for cadres, Party members, the armed forces, and youth to learn from and emulate. We will continue to build upon the achievements of the revolution and will firmly defend the Fatherland and successfully build socialism in our country."

With deep affection and respect for the great contributions of General Nguyen Quyet, President Luong Cuong emotionally wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Standing Member of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), former Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, former Deputy Minister of National Defense - A talented, virtuous, and utterly loyal general, yet also very humble and approachable to our Party and our Army.”

At 102 years old, 85 years in the Party, and more than 65 years of revolutionary activities, General Nguyen Quyet has devoted his entire life to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. Assigned to hold many important leadership positions in the cause of national liberation as well as the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, he has always excellently fulfilled all tasks assigned by the Party, State, Army and People.

In each stage of the revolution, he left a profound mark, notably: as the decisive, capable, and creative Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee during the August Revolution; as the resilient and courageous commander of Military Region 5 during the resistance against the French; as the commander of Military Region 3 who "enriched and won" during the resistance against the Americans; and as a military and political leader with sound and people-pleasing policies in the cause of national construction and defense.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of General Nguyen Quyet, a staunch communist, a man of courage and intellect, who embodied the complete character of a model general in the Ho Chi Minh era.”

The General has passed away, but his immense and exceptionally outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the Army will live on forever.

"The passing of the General is a great loss to the Party, the State, the People, and the Army. We respectfully bow our heads before the spirit of the General. We extend our deepest condolences to his entire family."

Tran Cam Tu, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade General Nguyen Quyet…, a leader who made many contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, State, and People of Vietnam, especially to the Vietnam People's Army, in building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. His passing is a great loss to the Party, State, and People of Vietnam, leaving deep sorrow for all of us.”

Visiting the memorial for General Nguyen Quyet and signing the condolence book, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Do Van Chien, expressed: “The delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front respectfully lights incense and bows in farewell to General Nguyen Quyet; expressing gratitude for the General's contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the Fatherland, and the people…”.

In the condolence book, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh wrote: “We deeply mourn the passing of Comrade General Nguyen Quyet... We respectfully bid farewell to him as he is laid to rest and offer our sincere condolences to his family. Farewell and we will forever remember a loyal Party member, a talented general who made immense contributions to the cause of the Party, the State, and the Army.”

In profound sorrow, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, wrote in the condolence book: “…Throughout his revolutionary career, in any position he held, he always upheld the integrity and qualities of a communist soldier, a brilliant and exemplary general, dedicated and devoted, wholeheartedly serving the country, the people, and the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, the State, and the Army. He was a leader and commander with strategic thinking, rich practical experience, daring to act and take responsibility, making many contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland; he lived a humble and simple life, full of compassion, close to and loving his comrades and the people, a shining example for all officers and soldiers in the army to learn from and emulate…”.

Hanoi Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai wrote in the condolence book: “I respectfully bow my head before the spirit of Comrade General Nguyen Quyet. I send my deepest condolences to the entire family of Comrade General Nguyen Quyet. May he rest in eternal peace!”

The memorial service for General Nguyen Quyet took place from 1:30 PM on the same day.

Reading the eulogy, Standing Committee member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Tran Cam Tu stated: General Nguyen Quyet (birth name Nguyen Tien Van), born on August 20, 1922, in Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province, came from a patriotic family in a homeland rich in revolutionary traditions. He was an early revolutionary and actively participated in local resistance activities. In late 1939, he was admitted to the Anti-Imperialist Youth of Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province, and appointed to the District Youth Executive Committee. In May 1940, at the age of 18, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam).

During the period from 1940 to 1945, Comrade held the positions of Secretary of the combined Party Branch; Member of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee; Member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Military Commissioner of the Hanoi Uprising Committee; Political Commissioner of the Hanoi Military Committee and the Ha Dong Military Committee.

In his capacity as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and concurrently in charge of military affairs, Comrade [Name] astutely and decisively proposed the leadership and direction to seize the opportunity to launch the uprising on August 19, 1945. The victory in Hanoi encouraged and inspired the resistance movement in other localities, making a significant contribution to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945.

In late 1945, Comrade served as Political Commissar of Detachment 1 (Ha Dong - Son Tay), Political Commissar of Detachment 2 (Ninh Binh), and later advanced south. During the resistance war against the French, Comrade was closely associated with the battlefield of Military Region 5 in various positions: Political Commissar of the Quang Nam - Da Nang Front, Military Commissioner in the Quang Nam - Da Nang Inter-provincial Resistance Committee; Political Commissar and Party Secretary of Regiment 108 and Regiment 803; Head of Political Affairs of Military Region 5, Military Region Committee Member, and Alternate Member of the Military Region 5 Committee. Together with the Party Committee, Comrade led and commanded the unit in combat, achieving many glorious victories.

During the resistance war against the US and in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, Comrade spent over 20 years working in Military Region 3 in various positions: Acting Political Commissar and then Political Commissar of the Left Bank Military Region; Deputy Political Commissar, Political Commissar, and Commander of Military Region 3. Together with the Military Region Party Committee and the Military Region Command, Comrade led and directed the building of a national defense system under the conditions of simultaneously building socialism and resisting the destructive war waged by the US imperialists, preparing a people's war strategy with the armed forces of all three branches as the core. In June 1974, Comrade served as Political Commissar of the Military Academy and Secretary of the Academy's Party Committee (now the National Defense Academy).

At the 4th National Party Congress (December 1976), he was elected to the Central Committee of the Party. In 1977, he was appointed Commander and Political Commissar of Military Region 3, Secretary of the Military Region Party Committee, and designated as a member of the Central Military Commission.

At the 5th National Party Congress (March 1982), he was re-elected to the Central Committee of the Party and became Commander of Military Region 3. In April 1986, he became Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.

At the 6th National Party Congress (December 1986), Comrade was re-elected to the Central Committee of the Party, elected by the Central Committee to the Central Secretariat, and assigned to be the Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, and a Standing Member of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission). In his assigned position, Comrade worked with the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to build a clean and strong Party organization within the Army, strong in politics, ideology, and organization, as a foundation for improving the overall quality and combat strength of the Army.

In February 1987, he became Deputy Minister of National Defense. At the first session of the 8th National Assembly (June 1987), he was elected Vice Chairman of the 8th State Council.

From 1987 to 1991, he served as Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Standing Member of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), and Vice Chairman of the State Council (now Vice President).

Comrade was promoted by the Party and State to the rank of Major General in April 1974, Lieutenant General in January 1980, General in December 1984, and General in January 1990.

In October 2006, Comrade retired from his position and received the benefits and policies applicable to senior officials.

Regardless of his position, General Nguyen Quyet always remained absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State, and the People; his entire life was dedicated to the struggle for national independence, reunification, and steadfastly pursuing the path to socialism chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the Vietnamese people. He always upheld the integrity and qualities of a communist soldier, wholeheartedly and devotedly serving the country, the people, and the revolutionary cause of the Party, the State, and the Army. His revolutionary life is a shining example for compatriots, comrades, cadres, and soldiers throughout the country to cherish, learn from, and emulate.

Comrade [Name] is a leader and commander with strategic thinking, courage, creativity, and rich practical experience; his words match his actions; he dares to think, dares to act, and dares to take responsibility; he lives in close proximity and affection to the soldiers and the people; he is trusted, admired, and respected by his comrades.

Within his family, he was a simple, exemplary father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, full of self-sacrifice and compassion.

In recent years, despite his advanced age, General Nguyen Quyet has remained actively involved in researching and summarizing revolutionary experiences and building the people's armed forces, contributing many heartfelt opinions to the Party, the State, and the Army.

For his outstanding and significant contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, he was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 85-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious orders, medals, and awards by the Party and the State.

Responding on behalf of the family, General Nguyen Quyet's nephew, Nguyen Vo Hoang Phuong, shared that the passing of General Nguyen Quyet is an irreplaceable loss for the family.

Expressing the sincere gratitude of General Nguyen Quyet's family, Mr. Nguyen Vo Hoang Phuong emphasized that from the time General Nguyen Quyet fell ill until today, his family has received much care, support, and dedicated assistance from the Party, State, and Army leaders, organizations, grandparents, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, and friends... General Nguyen Quyet is a shining example for all his descendants to follow. His entire life was dedicated to striving and fighting for the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

The funeral ceremony for General Nguyen Quyet took place from 3:30 PM on the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
