I am no longer searching for love.

"Even without loving anyone, I can still live."

In the program "Have a sip," rapper Karik rarely shared his views on love and his current perspective on his career.

Accordingly, Karik admitted that in the past three years, he feels he has changed a lot in his thinking and personality. In particular, for him, romantic relationships are very important, but at the present time, he no longer chases after them as he used to.

Rapper Karik:

"I no longer dwell on it. I'm not constantly searching for love anymore. In the past, I was sometimes the one actively seeking love. Sometimes that relentless pursuit made me tired, even discouraged."

"When life changes, I realize that some things are better when they happen naturally. Even without being in love, I can still live," Karik confided.

Explaining this change, the rapper said that he now realizes that love comes and goes, leaving us with lessons. He doesn't want to dwell on it, because ultimately, he's the one who gets hurt.

Sharing more about his personal transformation, the Rap Viet coach expressed: "In the past, I didn't focus much on my health. I ate indiscriminately, liked to dress in flashy clothes, spoke hastily... Activities like entertainment, health, and family didn't have specific schedules."

Now, I want to balance things out. Not for any particular reason, simply because I feel happier."

Regarding his family life, Karik revealed that his parents' relationship has become more harmonious than before. He is happy to see that they no longer argue as they used to. He also always receives support and encouragement from his parents and siblings.

"I am happy with my current life. My family provides me with a strong emotional foundation. As a result, I feel rich. I am rich in lessons. This helps me to be more confident when I go out into life. In love and friendship, I also feel I have more to offer others."

"I'm very afraid of myself when I'm sad and negative. At that time, I have nothing to give, even though I'm present beside them. That's not okay," the rapper expressed.

Rapper Karik:

Currently, the rapper wants love to come more naturally and not be as obstinate as before.

No longer "manipulated" by music videos with millions of views.

In 2022, Karik revealed for the first time that he had suffered from bipolar disorder (also known as affective disorder) – a mental illness – for over 12 years.

At the time, he said he was very sensitive to how strangers treated him. When faced with criticism, he tended to withdraw. That's why the rapper often deactivated his personal social media accounts because he felt they weren't a comfortable place for his emotions.

In the program "Have a sip," he said he had sought help from a psychologist twice. But there is no cure for this syndrome; he has to adjust and rebalance everything himself.

"Up until now, I've been living with it (bipolar disorder) and I'm doing okay. At this age, there are things I desire less, things I'm less assertive about. Small things make me less tired, and they have less impact on my mood," the rapper expressed.

This mindset also seems to influence his approach to music. Currently, Karik says he is no longer "manipulated" by the ambition to have music videos with hundreds of millions of views. What he worries about most is whether his products are fresh enough and relatable enough to the audience.

When he was ambitious about getting hundreds of millions of views on his music videos, the rapper thought that a song needed a viral catchy line or melody to touch the hearts of listeners, while what the audience wanted to receive was the artist's story.

Karik admits he's not good at technical skills or theory, but he says his advantage lies in clearly conveying his message to the audience. He doesn't want listeners to have to listen repeatedly, analyze, or read subtitles; he wants them to understand his story immediately after just one listen.

He shared this perspective with his students at Rap Viet: "You can freely follow trends or learn from rappers around the world . But never lose your own identity, because that is your strongest weapon to compete with others."

Karik, whose real name is Pham Hoang Khoa, is the owner of many famous songs such as: "Two Worlds", "I Don't Ask for Gifts"...

Many songs featuring Karik have become hits, launching the careers of many young singers, such as "Nguoi La Oi" (Orange), "Tat Ca Tai Anh" (Emma)...

He previously served as a coach on Rap Viet for two consecutive seasons, leading his protégé Seachains to victory in 2022. He will continue his coaching role in Rap Viet 2024.
