In the women's 200m double canoeing event, the pair of Nguyen Thi Huong and Ma Thi Thuy delivered an outstanding performance in the final. With excellent coordination, stable technique, and strong acceleration in the decisive phase, the two Vietnamese paddlers finished first with a time of 43.419 seconds, bringing home a valuable gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation. This is also one of the outstanding achievements of Vietnamese canoeing at this year's Games.

The Vietnamese sports delegation continued to receive positive signals at the SEA Games 33 on December 12th.

Notably, this is Nguyen Thi Huong's second gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Previously, she and Diep Thi Huong won a gold medal in the women's double sculls 500m event, thus affirming her pivotal role and consistent performance in the national canoeing team.

For Ma Thi Thuy, the gold medal in the women's 200m double sculls event continues her impressive streak of achievements in 2025. At the 2025 Southeast Asian Canoeing Championships, Ma Thi Thuy previously won a gold medal in the 200m mixed double sculls event.

Furthermore, at the National Canoeing Championships held in June, she and Nguyen Thi Huong also shared the top spot in the women's 200m double sculls event. These results demonstrate the stability and significant progress of the pair, Huong and Thuy, in major competitions.

Besides canoeing, Vietnamese martial arts competitions also continued fiercely. In karate, athlete Chu Van Duc entered the final of the men's 55kg weight class, facing opponent Kaliana from Malaysia.

Despite his best efforts and determination, Van Duc faced many difficulties against the effective and solid fighting style of the Malaysian fighter. In the end, Kaliana won with a score of 4-0 to claim the gold medal, while Chu Van Duc brought home the silver medal for Vietnamese karate.

In taekwondo, in the men's under 80kg sparring event, Pham Minh Bao Kha was eliminated in the semi-finals after losing to a Thai fighter, thus winning a bronze medal. Although he couldn't reach the final, this is still an encouraging result for Bao Kha in his first appearance at the SEA Games.

Following the semi-final matches, Vietnamese taekwondo continues to have two athletes qualify for the gold medal finals: Dinh Cong Khoa (men's under 58kg) and Bac Thi Khiem (women's under 73kg), promising further medal opportunities for the delegation in the coming days of competition.

In gymnastics, veteran athlete Dinh Phuong Thanh demonstrated outstanding class and consistency, leading in the apparatus – parallel bars event (men's parallel bars). With a highly difficult routine executed with precision and almost no errors, Dinh Phuong Thanh brilliantly won the gold medal, bringing home the 19th gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

Shortly afterwards, the petanque team continued to contribute more gold medals to the delegation. In the men's doubles event, the duo of Ly Ngoc Tai and Ngo Ron displayed great skill, overcoming their competitors to claim the top spot. This victory not only brought the 20th gold medal to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, but also the second gold medal for the Vietnamese petanque team at this year's Games, affirming the progress and position of Vietnamese petanque in the region.

But that's not all; the female pétanque athletes also continued to make a strong impression. In the women's doubles event, Nguyen Thi Thi and Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu delivered a convincing performance, defeating the host team Thailand in the final. Playing confidently, employing sound tactics, and maintaining composure under the pressure of the home crowd, the Vietnamese pair brilliantly won the gold medal, bringing home the 21st gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
