US President Donald Trump said on September 15 that he will file a lawsuit against The New York Times, with compensation of up to 15 billion USD, accusing the newspaper of defamation and slander for many years.

According to Mr. Trump, the New York Times has "lied, smeared and slandered him, his family, his business" as well as the political movements he initiated such as "America First" and "Make America Great Again."

He accused the newspaper of a “long-standing pattern of abuse,” calling the behavior “illegal and unacceptable.”

President Trump's statement came just days after the New York Times published a series of articles about his relationship with pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, including a note and an obscene drawing that Epstein had made.

Mr. Trump said he would file a lawsuit in Florida state court.

The New York Times has not yet commented on this incident./.
