According to reports, since mid-August, many consecutive storms have caused serious damage to people, property and infrastructure in the Central and Northern regions. At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society, emphasized that the spirit of "mutual love" is a precious tradition, urging the people of the City to join hands to support people in flood-affected areas to overcome difficulties soon.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also called on all cadres, party members, organizations, businesses and people to actively support, "convey feelings and sharing to the people of the Central and Northern regions", and affirmed that timely coordination will help minimize damage and stabilize people's lives.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross, the most urgent necessities needed at this time are processed foods, bottled water, new clothes, blankets, and personal medical supplies. In addition to goods, the program also accepts cash and transfers to support people in repairing their homes, helping students return to school, and building a long-term fund for livestock farming, production, and stabilizing livelihoods.
Right at the launching ceremony, many units and donors directly donated money. Artist Nhat Kim Anh contributed 1 billion VND to the people in the storm-hit areas. Tuoi Tre Newspaper also transferred 2 billion VND to support Nghe An and Ha Tinh , allocating a part of the fund to help households whose roofs were blown off or whose houses were damaged.
The Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee further informed that the city has promptly supported Ha Tinh with 10 billion VND, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa with 2 billion VND each. The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union plans to organize a cultural and artistic program to call on artists to participate in support, and at the same time send a working group directly to Nghe An and Ha Tinh from October 7 to survey and provide on-site relief.
The Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society is committed to promptly organizing charity trips to transport relief goods to the people in a timely manner. The trust and companionship of the community is a great source of encouragement for the Society to fulfill its humanitarian mission well.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan affirmed that all funds and relief goods will be received, managed transparently and delivered to people in disaster areas as soon as possible. The Red Cross will organize charity trips to bring relief goods directly to affected localities.
