The project to build Vinh city "clean of drugs" aims to gradually control, prevent and repel drugs, striving by 2026, Vinh will meet the criteria, be recognized as "Clean city of drugs", become a "civilized, modern and livable" urban area; move towards bringing Nghe An out of the key and complicated drug areas of the country, the project will be implemented in 100% of wards and communes (before and after expanding administrative boundaries) and divided into 3 phases.

This is the first national project, a breakthrough and unprecedented in the country; carrying out two tasks: "Cleaning up" and "Keeping clean" of drugs.

Currently, in Vinh City, there are 303 drug addicts, illegal drug users and post-rehab managers. Steering Committee 138 of Nghe An province recommends reviewing and correctly assessing the current situation to have solutions to "clean up" drugs in a real, fundamental and sustainable way, not for targets or achievements.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh emphasized: After 2.5 years of implementing and replicating the Provincial Police's Project on building "Drug-free Border Communes", up to now, the whole province has 284/460 commune-level areas recognized as meeting the "drug-free" criteria, 7 district-level areas have 100% of "drug-free" commune-level areas.

Affirming that this Project has created positive changes in the work of preventing and combating crime and drug abuse in the whole province, comrade Le Hong Vinh also assigned tasks to provincial departments, branches, organizations, agencies, units, and localities to coordinate and support Vinh City to deploy and complete the objectives of the Project issued by the Provincial People's Committee. For Vinh City, it is necessary to thoroughly grasp and promote the combined strength of the entire political system and all classes of people; deploy and effectively organize the implementation of the assigned tasks in the Project./.
