On September 11, Dak Lak Provincial Police solemnly held a ceremony to announce the decision and award the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to martyr Nguyen Dong Canh, a police officer of Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province, who heroically sacrificed his life in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

At the ceremony, authorized by the Prime Minister , Colonel Tran Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police, presented the Certificate of Merit to the family of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh.
On behalf of the Party Committee, the provincial police leaders send their regards, sharing, encouragement and deep condolences to the family of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh. This is the recognition of the Party, State and people for the sacrifice of the People's Public Security officers and soldiers in general and of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh in the cause of protecting national security, protecting the peace and happiness of the people.
Colonel Tran Quang Hieu presented the Certificate of Merit and the support money from officers and soldiers of Dak Lak Provincial Police to the relatives of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh.
At the ceremony, Colonel Tran Quang Hieu presented more than 1 billion VND to the family of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh. This is the amount of money that officers and soldiers of the entire provincial police force have responded to the campaign launched by the Party Committee and leaders of the provincial police to voluntarily donate and support the family of martyr Nguyen Dong Canh in recent days.
As reported by SGGP Newspaper, on the morning of September 8, the police force of Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province received a report from the people about Nguyen Van Ty (born in 1995, residing in village 4, Xuan Loc commune) intentionally causing injury to Ms. NTK (born in 1989, Ty's sister-in-law, living in the same house).
After verifying and gathering information, Xuan Loc Commune Police established a working group of 5 comrades to directly go to the area to invite Nguyen Van Ty to the headquarters for questioning. However, when the working group arrived, Ty escaped to the acacia forest area in village 4, Xuan Loc Commune.
During the pursuit by the Task Force, Major Nguyen Dong Canh was stabbed multiple times by Nguyen Van Ty who pulled out a knife to fight back. Dak Lak Provincial Police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused and temporarily detained Ty to investigate the murder.
