Taking advantage of favorable weather, these days, farmers in Hung My commune, Hung Nguyen district are actively doing irrigation work in the fields. Mr. Tran Van Toan - a farmer who is dredging canals shared: "Currently, most families in the hamlet are going to the fields to focus on maintaining and repairing the banks, dredging the canals to get water in time to prepare the land for spring rice cultivation".
Mr. Le Thanh Dong - Chairman of Hung My Commune People's Committee said: From October 16 to now, the commune has always maintained 200-250 workers focused on irrigation. Currently, the commune has completed 80% of the irrigation work. Specifically, over 15 km of intra-field canals have been dredged, the banks of the area and plots have been maintained, the volume of excavation and filling has reached over 1,000 m3 of mud. The commune is also coordinating with the irrigation management unit to dredge the canals serving 6 electric pumping stations in the area. It is expected that in about 10 more days, the irrigation work will be completed, ensuring water for the spring crop for over 243 hectares of rice.
Mr. Hoang Duc An - Head of Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Hung Nguyen district said: The district launched irrigation work focusing on the following items: dredging and clearing canals in fields, villages, canals, pumping stations, water intake works, domestic water supply; maintaining and building embankments in fields, traffic in fields; general cleaning in residential areas, on inter-village and inter-commune roads... At the same time, maintaining machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment of irrigation and drainage pumping stations, ensuring 100% of machinery and works are ready for production and people's lives.
This year, the work of irrigation in the fields was launched by Hung Nguyen district simultaneously, maintained regularly and continuously. People in the communes all raised their sense of responsibility and participated in irrigation work with high efficiency. The district assigned the communes to make plans and assign specific tasks to each block, hamlet and each organization.
During the implementation process, the district's professional agencies regularly inspect, urge and supervise to ensure the quality and progress of irrigation works. Thanks to that, the irrigation movement of Hung Nguyen district has achieved high efficiency, many communes have exceeded the targets such as Hung My, Long Xa, Hung Tay, Hung Thinh, Hung Thong...
Up to this point, the whole district has achieved 85,081 working days, more than 48,000 m3 of dredged soil, 61,000 m2 of cleared area, grass cutting... estimated cost of 13.4 billion VND.
In the recent irrigation campaign, many districts achieved good results, such as Dien Chau district achieved 11,484 working days, more than 3,400 m3 of dredged soil, 569,000 m2 of cleared land and grass cutting, with an estimated cost of 3.6 billion VND. Que Phong district achieved 4,290 working days, 11,300 m3 of dredged soil, 3,480 m2 of cleared land, with an estimated cost of 1.3 billion VND.
According to the report of the Irrigation Department, up to this point, the whole province has mobilized over 456,000 working days for irrigation; dredging and draining nearly 300,000 m3 of internal canals, dredging over 270,000 m3 of excavated soil, filling over 80,000 m3 of graded soil for concrete pouring; the total estimated implementation cost is over 100 billion VND.
In the recent irrigation campaign, localities in the province have basically completed dredging canals, drainage canals, clearing bushes, etc. From now until December 31, localities will focus on the final tasks such as dredging, maintaining and repairing the banks of the fields, maintaining machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment of irrigation pumping stations. Complete the solidification of intra-field canals and ditches of unfinished projects.
In addition to the large number of people from all walks of life, many localities also mobilized armed forces, high school students, and departments to coordinate in irrigation work. Irrigation works are managed by irrigation units, closely coordinated with the District People's Committee, to be included in the plan assigned to communes, cadres, workers and employees of irrigation units directly working together with the people to ensure progress./.
