Accordingly, the Company has directed electricity management teams in communes and wards to inspect and strengthen the power grid system, especially in riverside areas, canals and low-lying areas at risk of flooding; at the same time, it has developed a plan to proactively cut off power in deeply flooded areas to ensure the safety of people's lives; combined with organizing inspections of electric poles, wires, electrical cabinets, transformer stations in high-risk areas, such as residential areas, schools, markets and areas that are often deeply flooded, in order to promptly handle locations showing signs of unsafety...
With the spirit of "Proactive - responsive - safe - effective", Can Tho City Electricity Company together with the city's Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with local authorities to organize an electrical safety inspection team in areas that are often flooded during heavy rains and high tides, especially at locations at risk of electrical leakage, such as electric poles serving lighting for roads, parks, markets, schools and residential areas in Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, Binh Thuy, Phu Loi and Nga Bay wards... Through inspection, the team discovered and promptly handled potential points that could lead to electrical safety risks; At the same time, remind the units in charge of construction works in localities to carry out periodic maintenance and repair of lighting poles, especially in locations that are frequently flooded and where there are many people passing by... The Electricity Management Teams in communes and wards also send documents to each agency, enterprise, school... requesting the units to proactively review and fix electrical safety risks in the equipment under their management.
Along with the inspection work, Can Tho City Electricity Company has prepared sufficient materials, equipment, means and arranged 24/24-hour on-duty forces, ready to respond quickly when incidents occur, ensuring safe and continuous power supply to key areas, such as hospitals, drainage pumping stations, administrative centers and other essential infrastructures. The electricity sector has also strengthened coordination with functional agencies and local authorities to proactively warn and guide people on safe electricity use during the rainy and stormy season; organized the distribution of handbooks on safe electricity use in the home for households and hung banners promoting electrical safety during the rainy and stormy season, high tides in markets, schools, densely populated areas, and places where the power grid passes through...

The electricity industry recommends that people do not touch electrical equipment when their hands are wet or when the surrounding area is flooded; do not arbitrarily repair or move meters or electrical wires without instructions from the electricity industry. After the water recedes, the affiliated electricity units will conduct a thorough inspection of the electrical system, only turning the power back on when absolute safety is ensured, to avoid unfortunate electrical accidents from happening...
