Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung has just signed Decision 1313/QD-LDTBXH dated August 21, 2024 on changing the name of Rubber Industry College to Eastern College, effective from the date of signing.

Eastern College is responsible for carrying out procedures to re-register the seal sample according to regulations.

The Chief of the Ministry Office, Director General of the General Department of VocationalEducation , General Director of Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG), Principal of Eastern College, and Heads of relevant units are responsible for implementing this Decision.

This is a vocational training institution under VRG, established in 1978, the predecessor is the Rubber Mechanical Workers School located in Dong Xoai city ( Binh Phuoc province).

Rubber Industry College changed its name to Eastern College from August 21.

Regarding the reason for changing the school's name, VRG said: to meet the need for training human resources to serve the development orientation of the Group, not only in the rubber sector but also in many industries and fields serving the Southeast region and the whole country.

With the name of Rubber Industry College, the scope of the industry and profession is narrow, so it invisibly narrows the scope of the school's training activities; makes parents and students think that the school only trains in rubber, which leads to many difficulties in enrollment; the school's name has not created an attraction in enrollment for parents and students; it has not reflected the school's multi-disciplinary and multi-field training to train human resources to serve the economic sectors of the Southeast region.

In fact, the school is currently training 21 professions, of which only 3 are rubber professions and 18 other professions serve the needs of people in the Southeast region.

Currently, only 3/21 of the school's training majors are related to rubber.

By 2030, the school will focus its resources on training in the fields of logistics; trade, tourism; business, industrial park management, import and export... to serve the development of the industry and the Southeast region.

According to VRG, the phrase "Eastern Region" is an abbreviation for the Southeast region (Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City) and is the rubber capital of the country, accounting for more than 58% of the area.

The renaming of the Rubber Industry College to the Eastern College is both suitable for its stature according to the development orientation and contains the characteristics and nature of the school belonging to VRG; it also creates conditions for the school to train in many fields, meeting the requirements of human resource development according to the development orientation of VRG as well as the need to train technical human resources for economic sectors of the Southeast region; it also has the meaning of educating the young generation, which is associated with the heroic historical tradition in the resistance war that has been dubbed "The Eastern region is arduous but heroic",...

High recruitment demand

Mr. Le Van Kich, Principal of the school, said that after 46 years of construction and development, the school has trained nearly 150,000 students to serve the rubber industry and other industries. The school has been awarded the Third Class Independence Medal, the First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals, along with many other emulation flags and certificates of merit.

The school is currently training 10 college-level occupations, 11 intermediate-level occupations, 27 elementary occupations, and 20 short-term training topics. In addition, the school has been cooperating with many universities to train at the undergraduate level since 2002.

Regarding job opportunities for students after graduation, Mr. Le Van Kich said that the recruitment needs of businesses are higher than the school's enrollment capacity. "After graduation, students are introduced to jobs at home and abroad, or continue their studies. Most of them have jobs right after finishing their studies. We have to organize graduation ceremonies and award degrees on weekends so that students can attend," Mr. Kich informed.
