A strong, foul odor emanating from a student prank sent six people to the hospital, and eight others reported similar symptoms, forcing the school to temporarily close.

The incident occurred at Caney Creek High School in Texas, USA. On the morning of May 3rd, students and staff discovered a strange, foul odor emanating from the cafeteria. Suspecting a gas leak, all students were evacuated quickly.

The Caney Creek Fire and Rescue team arrived promptly and quickly searched the school using gas detectors, but were unable to identify any signs of a leak.

The following day (May 4th), students returned to school despite the unpleasant smell. However, that same day, six students suffered severe headaches and had to be hospitalized due to prolonged exposure to the odor. At least eight others reported similar symptoms.

The school was forced to temporarily close despite the fire department confirming that the air quality inside the school was safe.

After three days of continuous investigation, on May 5th, representatives from the fire department announced that a student from the school had confessed to the act. The student stated that they had brought a highly pungent, foul-smelling spray to school to play a prank. The spray, called Hensgaukt Fart Spray, was advertised as "creating a smell similar to real feces, causing nausea."

The school administration suspects that more than one student likely carried out this prank. In a notice sent to parents, Principal Jeff Stichler stated that the school district is working with authorities to clarify the matter. The school is committed to resolving the issue thoroughly in accordance with Texas state law and the school's Code of Conduct.
