A representative of the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that they have coordinated with the Digital Technology Company - HITD to install equipment and connect the automatic non-stop toll collection system at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat. Each airport is expected to reserve two lanes for vehicles using ETC, with a total investment of more than 210 billion VND.

According to ACV representative, car owners who already have ETC accounts used on national highways and expressways can travel through the airport toll lanes without having to stick an additional card or incur additional procedures, because these systems are integrated synchronously.

Every day, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports have 16,000-20,000 vehicles passing through toll stations. The organization of toll collection for cars entering and leaving the airport is still manual, drivers have to stop in front of the toll station to get a card and pay cash at the exit, which can easily lead to congestion, especially during peak times and holidays.

The fee collected through the ETC system remains the current level. For Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang , vehicles entering and exiting within 10 minutes each time will be charged 10,000 VND for vehicles with less than 9 seats, 15,000 VND for vehicles with 10-30 seats, and 25,000 VND for vehicles with 30 seats or more.

The remaining airports charge a parking fee of VND5,000 for cars with less than 9 seats, VND10,000 for cars with 10-16 seats, VND15,000 for cars with 16-29 seats, and VND25,000 for cars with 30 seats or more. Cars entering the airport for more than 10 minutes will be charged an additional parking fee.

Nationwide, nearly 5 million cars (96%) have been tagged and have opened ETC accounts. The Ministry of Transport plans to apply ETC fees for many new services such as seaport fees, parking fees, insurance, and registration.
