Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Spring Press Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, affirmed: “The Spring Press Festival 2025 is one of the main activities in the key work program of the Hung Yen Provincial Journalists Association. I especially commend the Provincial Journalists Association for its proactive and creative approach in advising the Provincial People's Committee and connecting with the Vietnam Press Museum to organize the collection of documents and artifacts and the exhibition on the theme "Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism: A Century of Struggle - Hung Yen's Journalism Pride". This is a practical and beneficial undertaking, providing professionals as well as a large number of cadres, Party members, and the people with a comprehensive view of the history of the formation, development, and contributions of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in general, and Hung Yen's revolutionary journalism in particular. I also commend the collectives and individuals who have preserved, shared, and donated to the Vietnam Press Museum, so that from now on, these documents and artifacts will no longer remain dormant in private rooms or display cases. "This project will be effective, will continue to live a special life, and will continue to tell historical stories under the skilled hands of experts from the Vietnam Press Museum."

Sharing about this activity, Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Mai – Standing Vice President of the Hung Yen Journalists Association – said that 2025 will be the second year that the Hung Yen Journalists Association advises the Provincial People's Committee to organize the Spring Press Festival on a larger scale than usual. Previously, the Spring Press Festival was organized on a smaller scale, at the Provincial Journalists Association's meeting hall. The Journalists Association was the organizing unit, with the provincial departments and agencies in the culture and social sector, along with press agencies in the province, providing newspapers, magazines, newsletters published during the year and Tet (Lunar New Year) issues for the Provincial Journalists Association to display. The opening ceremony was mainly attended by internal staff, reporters, and members. The publicity activities were not widespread.

In 2024, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Journalists Association advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for organizing the province's Spring Press Festival and participating in activities at the National Press Festival. This included changes to the scale of the event, notably expanding it to 10 exhibition booths showcasing newspapers and journalistic publications from 10 provincial and central press agencies based in the province; the event was held at the Provincial Museum.

Following the success of 2024, starting from the fourth quarter of 2024, the Journalists Association advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Plan No. 158/KH-UBND dated October 16, 2024, to organize the Spring Press Festival of the Year of the Snake and participate in the activities of the National Press Festival in 2025.

“The Spring Press Festival of Hung Yen province will continue to be held at the Provincial Museum to meet the requirements of expanding the scale of press booths and exhibitions of press photos and art during the Spring Press Festival. The highlight of this year's Hung Yen Spring Press Festival is the presence of press booths from 10 departments, agencies, and media organizations in the province (Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Department of Information and Communications; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Hung Yen Newspaper; Hung Yen Radio and Television Station; Provincial Literature and Arts Association; Provincial Journalists Association;…” – Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Mai emphasized.

The Standing Vice President of the Hung Yen Provincial Journalists Association also shared that, to have such a successful opening ceremony, all coordinating units worked smoothly, carefully, and thoughtfully. The event brought many interesting things to the public because of its unique features that were never seen before. “For the first time at the Hung Yen Spring Press Festival, we organized a special cultural program; for the first time, we honored 18 outstanding reporters, members, and journalists in 2024; we presented flowers to 11 units participating in the exhibition at the 2025 Spring Press Festival. And especially, we had the presence of the Vietnam Press Museum with an impressive exhibition space. During the event, we also presented collected artifacts about Hung Yen journalism to the Vietnam Press Museum…” - Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Mai added.

"Vietnamese revolutionary journalism: A century of struggle and pride in Hung Yen's journalism"

One of the highlights of this year's Spring Press Festival is the first-ever collaboration between the Vietnam Press Museum and the Hung Yen Journalists Association. At the event, the Press Museum is presenting a thematic exhibition titled "Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism: A Century of Struggle and Hung Yen Journalism Pride." This collaboration with the Hung Yen Journalists Association is the first of its kind, leading up to the 100th anniversary of revolutionary journalism and the 75th anniversary of the Association's founding. Following this, the Museum will continue to collaborate with other provinces such as Quang Tri, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Can Tho, etc., with each province having its own unique ideas reflecting the distinctive characteristics of its local journalism.

At today's event, the Vietnam Press Museum is presenting an exhibition focusing on recreating the 100-year history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism and the context of Hung Yen's journalism within that historical flow. The public can admire valuable press publications, some Spring Festival newspapers from various periods, as well as artifacts related to the journalistic activities of generations of Vietnamese journalists. Another noteworthy aspect is the storytelling about the figures and events associated with the milestones of Hung Yen's journalism, the journalist martyrs, and exemplary journalists from Hung Yen…

Through the images, documents, artifacts and stories on display, the public will better understand the history of the development of Vietnamese journalism, the great contributions of generations of journalists in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, the public will better understand the contributions of Hung Yen journalism to the general flow of the country's journalism.

Sharing his thoughts on the exhibition, Mr. Than Quang Minh, Head of Professional Affairs at the Vietnam Press Museum, said: The museum has closely coordinated with the Hung Yen Journalists Association to implement related tasks, ensuring the event is successfully organized. The goal is to create a Spring Press Festival that is not only an exhibition but also an opportunity for journalists and the public to interact and share about the profession.

“We believe that the participation of the Vietnam Press Museum at the Hung Yen Province Spring Press Festival will be a noteworthy highlight, attracting public attention and contributing to honoring the historical values in the century-long journey of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, while also arousing pride in the journalistic tradition of our homeland, Hung Yen…” - Mr. Than Quang Minh, Head of Professional Affairs Department, Vietnam Press Museum, affirmed.

It can be said that the Hung Yen Provincial Spring Press Festival is an opportunity to promote the strong development and great achievements of Vietnamese journalism in general, and Hung Yen journalism in particular...
