
Heritage conservation associated with tourism development
The program is organized to contribute to preserving, promoting and spreading the tradition of great national unity, honoring the rich cultural heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups, organizing practical and meaningful cultural, sports and tourism exchange activities to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).
Thereby, the event aims to affirm the spirit of great national solidarity as a precious cultural heritage, forged through thousands of years of history of building and defending the country, demonstrating the lasting value of the close bond between ethnic groups in the cause of building, protecting and developing the Fatherland in the current period of industrialization and modernization of the country.
According to information from the organizing committee, the week includes a variety of activities such as: Opening ceremony and the 2nd Muong Ethnic Culture Festival; scientific workshop "Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values associated with tourism development;" National Great Unity Day... along with a series of exchange activities, performances and introductions of cultural colors of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
Notably, the program promotes and introduces Vietnamese culture to international friends with activities introducing unique cultures of ethnic groups, inviting international guests to directly experience cultural spaces in ethnic villages and enjoy regional cuisine.
In particular, folk art performances, which are intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO such as Quan Ho, Xam, Hat Van, etc., will be performed by the artists themselves. The performance is expected to bring a lively and authentic experience to domestic and international tourists. The culinary space with strong regional identity will help international friends better understand the depth of Vietnamese culture through dishes, customs and the warm and friendly welcome of the Vietnamese people.
In addition, the program also provides space for regional cultural exchange, folk song, folk dance, folk games of Southern ethnic groups (Can Tho and Vinh Long); introduces the art of Don ca tai tu, introduces traditional crafts and traditional arts of the Khmer ethnic group; introduces culture, tourism, local specialties and the cultural space of the Cham people in Khanh Hoa province; introduces dances and songs on the temples about the cultural colors of the Cham Brahman ethnic community with folk dance and music associated with the temples; performs and introduces Bau Truc pottery art - an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO...
The program is expected to welcome about 250-300 international guests, including representatives of embassies, diplomatic agencies, international organizations and foreign cultural centers in Hanoi.

Key tasks for the 2026 - 2030 period
A representative of the Department of Culture of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that the program, through practical traditional cultural experiences with cultural subjects, ethnic culinary exchanges, etc., will contribute to vividly and attractively introducing Vietnam's traditional cultural values to international friends, strengthening friendly relations, demonstrating hospitality, and helping international friends gain a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture.
The rich activities during the event week also affirmed the diversity and unity of Vietnamese cultural identity in the context of international integration, contributing to strengthening national pride and raising public awareness of the role in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the context of international integration.
This is also considered the opening series of activities for the 2026-2030 period in which the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to restore, preserve and sustainably promote traditional cultural values; build a healthy and creative cultural environment associated with community tourism development and improve the spiritual life of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Accordingly, the Ministry will focus on 5 key contents including: Preserving and promoting typical traditional cultural villages and hamlets; preserving and restoring special national relics and typical relics of ethnic minorities; building and renovating cultural and sports institutions, equipment of village and hamlet cultural houses; building and developing community tourism spots, special tourist destinations in ethnic minority areas; supporting the construction of ecological museums in ethnic minority areas.
To practically implement the tasks, the whole sector will: Restore and preserve the cultural identity of ethnic minorities; organize festivals, celebrations, cultural exchanges, sports and tourism in ethnic minority areas; preserve and promote traditional festivals and forms of folk cultural activities; research and perform intangible cultural heritage, and preserve the spoken and written languages of ethnic minorities.
In addition, there are activities to organize training, teaching, and skill development for artisans, communities, and grassroots cultural officials; support equipment, community bookcases, and means for grassroots cultural and sports activities; maintain and develop cultural clubs and traditional art troupes; build a model of cultural preservation associated with tourism development, a model of specific ethnic sports; develop specific ethnic sports; build an information system and database of Vietnamese ethnic minority culture; promote propaganda and promotion of cultural tourism on media platforms.
