Da Nang youth volunteer for the community

In recent days, the youth union members of Da Nang have promptly been present in landslide and flood areas to support rescue, evacuate people, bring necessities to each difficult household, and spread the spirit of responsibility of youth for the community.

"Where needed, young people have"

In recent days, the Youth Union members of Hung Son commune have been present in landslide areas to assist in evacuating people to safety. In Glao, Cha'noc and Phut villages, the Commune Youth Union mobilized dozens of members to help evacuate 14 households in dangerous areas. In Aring village alone, which was isolated, the Village Youth Union coordinated with local forces to urgently evacuate 8 households at risk of landslides.

Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains, rising river water caused 2/3 of Xuan Phu commune to be deeply flooded, many villages such as Phu Vinh, Phu Nguyen, Tra Dinh 1, Tra Dinh 2, Phu Sa, Thanh Hoa... were completely isolated. In that situation, Xuan Phu commune's Youth Union mobilized the youth force to divide into two groups. One group was in charge of mobilizing necessities, medicine, flashlights; the other group used boats to move into isolated areas to supply food to the people. The commune's Military Youth Union also directly supported in raising furniture, helping the elderly and children to move to a safe place.

Xuan Phu Commune Youth Union Deputy Secretary Doan Xuan Loc said that at noon on October 29, the youth force promptly brought a pregnant woman from a deep flooded area to Thang Hoa Hospital safely. Currently, the youth union members are still on duty at heavily flooded areas, regularly monitoring phones and social networks to promptly respond. Up to now, the commune Youth Union has supported the evacuation of dozens of households, mobilized more than 1,000 barrels of water and hundreds of necessities to send to people in isolated areas.

Currently, many roads in the commune are cut off, the electricity and water systems are damaged, and people have to use rainwater temporarily. The Hung Son Commune Youth Union has advised people to use boiled water to ensure their health, and at the same time organized youth forces to clear roads and remove fallen trees to open access to villages. Deputy Secretary of the Hoi Anh Commune Youth Union said that in the face of the complicated situation of heavy rain, the youth force continues to stay in the area, supporting the elderly, children, and the sick. At the same time, they hope to receive more food, drinking water, and medicine to help people stabilize their lives in a timely manner.

Regardless of difficulties

Meanwhile, the Dong A University Youth Union organized the cooking of 600 free meals to give to people and patients being treated at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital, where many people were stranded due to floods. The meals included 300 portions of porridge, 300 portions of egg bread and 300 packs of milk, which were made by students themselves in the school's practice kitchen. Mr. Le Dinh Luong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, said that in addition to 600 meals, the Dong A University SOS Team was also activated to support students and people in deeply flooded areas. The activity demonstrated the spirit of volunteerism and sharing of Dong A youth, contributing to spreading the spirit of mutual love during the days of floods.

On the night of October 28 and early morning of October 29, prolonged heavy rains caused many villages in Hoa Tien commune to be deeply flooded, especially the areas of Le Son 2, Cam Ne, and An Trach, which were completely isolated. In the face of the emergency, the youth of Hoa Tien commune police coordinated with other forces to use boats, ropes, and flashlights to cross the flood at night to approach and evacuate people. By the morning of October 29, the force had evacuated more than 90 households with over 350 people, and at the same time, put up warning signs and ropes at deeply flooded areas, instructing people not to go through dangerous areas. The commune police arranged forces to be on duty 24/7, ready with rescue plans, helping people move their belongings, ensuring the safety of life and property during the flood.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dinh Tri, Deputy Head of the City Police Youth Union, since October 28, the unit has established a Youth Shock Team, mobilizing union members and soldiers to support people in flooded areas. More than 1,000 gifts including instant noodles, cakes, milk and drinking water were sent to patients and their families at Quang Nam Regional General Hospital and people in isolated areas. Currently, the unit continues to mobilize more resources, joining hands with the community to help people stabilize their lives soon after the flood.

Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union Le Cong Hung said that the City Youth Union has activated 109 youth shock troops at its affiliated youth union bases to promptly support people in preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Youth union members actively help people raise their assets, evacuate the elderly and children to safe places. Units need to closely direct and ensure absolute safety for youth union members while performing their duties.
