From the beginning of April 2025, the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) submarine fiber optic cable became operational, marking a major step forward in Vietnam's international internet infrastructure. This is currently the highest-capacity cable, with a transmission capacity of up to 50Tbps, 125% higher than the total capacity of all international cables Vietnam previously had.

This cable line currently has the highest capacity, with the ability to transmit up to 50Tbps.
The cable lands ashore in Quy Nhon and is directly constructed, managed, and operated by Viettel Networks Corporation. Viettel Group, the military telecommunications and industry conglomerate, is the sole Vietnamese investor in this project and also owns the entire cable branch connecting to Vietnam.
The ADC cable is approximately 9,800 km long, directly connecting Vietnam with six other countries and territories: China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan. Notably, this cable connects the three largest internet hubs in Asia – Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan – a feat unmatched by any existing cable in Vietnam.

The ADC cable connects all three of Asia's largest internet hubs, something no existing cable in Vietnam has achieved.
The project has a total investment of up to 290 million USD, with the participation of 9 leading telecommunications corporations in the region, including Viettel, Softbank (Japan), Tata Communications (India), Singtel (Singapore), and major corporations from China, Thailand, and the Philippines.

The system is ready to support new technologies that require extremely high bandwidth.
The ADC cable system not only helps increase internet speed and improve user experience but also plays a crucial role in ensuring stable connectivity, especially in the event of problems with existing cables. Furthermore, this system is ready to support new technologies requiring extremely high bandwidth, such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G networks, big data, and virtual reality (VR/AR).
The commissioning of the ADC cable line is clear evidence of Viettel's efforts and vision in developing modern digital infrastructure, bringing Vietnam closer to its goal of becoming a strong digital nation in the region.
