Since the beginning of April 2025, the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) submarine cable has been put into operation, marking a major step forward in Vietnam's international Internet infrastructure. This is the cable with the largest capacity today, with a transmission capacity of up to 50Tbps, 125% higher than the total capacity of all international cable lines that Vietnam has had before.

The cable line landed in Quy Nhon and was directly built, managed and operated by Viettel Networks. The Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) is the only Vietnamese unit investing in this project and is also the owner of the entire cable branch connecting to Vietnam.

The ADC is approximately 9,800 km long, directly connecting Vietnam with 6 other countries and territories including: China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Japan. Notably, this cable connects the three largest Internet centers in Asia: Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, something that no other existing cable in Vietnam can do.

The project has a total investment capital of up to 290 million USD, with the participation of 9 leading telecommunications corporations in the region, including Viettel, Softbank (Japan), Tata Communications (India), Singtel (Singapore), and large corporations from China, Thailand, and the Philippines.

The system is ready to serve new technologies that require extremely large bandwidth.

The ADC cable line not only helps increase Internet speed and improve user experience, but also plays an important role in ensuring stable connections, especially when problems occur with existing cable lines. In addition, this system is also ready to serve new technologies that require extremely large bandwidth such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G network, big data (Big Data), virtual reality (VR/AR)...

The operation of the ADC cable line is a clear demonstration of Viettel's efforts and vision in developing modern digital infrastructure, bringing Vietnam closer to the goal of becoming a strong digital nation in the region.
