At the SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's football team holds the record for winning the gold medal 8 times. Of those, they have won the title 4 times in a row.
The journey to win their fifth consecutive gold medal begins today (December 5th) for Coach Mai Duc Chung's team. Their first opponent is Malaysia, a team not considered to be particularly strong.
Winning and getting all 3 points will be the mandatory goal, before the whole team thinks about the 2 remaining tough opponents in group B, Myanmar and Philippines.
In terms of force, the 33rd SEA Games witnessed a transition of the Vietnamese women's team. Coach Mai Duc Chung has many stars who have passed the age of 30 such as Huynh Nhu, Hai Yen, Bich Thuy, Tran Thi Thu... This could be the last SEA Games of this generation of players considered the golden generation.
Besides that, there are many talented young players who have been proven over the past few years such as Thanh Nha, Van Su, Hai Linh...
The opening match against Malaysia will be an opportunity for coach Mai Duc Chung to test the squad before moving on to more difficult matches.
