Cornered
In recent SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team has never been in such a difficult position as in Chonburi this time. After the 0-1 defeat against the Philippines, we only have one option: to win the decisive match against Myanmar.

Can we beat Myanmar? If we base on the previous encounters between the two teams, it is completely possible. Because since 2005, after the 0-1 defeat at Marikina Stadium in Manila (Philippines), we have always played well, dominated and been in the lead every time we met this opponent. Most recently, at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Vietnam also beat Myanmar in both matches in the group stage (3-1) and the final (2-0). However, the Vietnamese women's players also need to be careful, as the 1-1 draw in Laos in 2009 was considered a warning. In that match, Doan Thi Kim Chi (currently the assistant coach of the women's team) scored the first goal, but Myanmar equalized due to a loss of concentration in the following minutes.
Loss of concentration at crucial moments is a common weakness of the Vietnamese female players. In other words, it is the spirit that needs to be maintained and promoted well throughout the match. This is the pressure and also the challenge in this rematch with Myanmar. More than anyone, coach Mai Duc Chung clearly understands that he cannot rely on previous advantages to think that it is easy to play with Myanmar, but on the contrary, the team must give their all because this is a life-or-death match, there is no room for mistakes.
"Now is the time to forget everything and focus on the decisive match with Myanmar. I watched the video to study the opponent's playing style and had advice from my assistants after watching Myanmar's victory over the Philippines. I must say that they approached the match quickly, put pressure early and knew how to take advantage of good opportunities. That is what the Vietnamese women's team must overcome. We have also faced them many times and have seen their progress. But we will do everything we can to beat Myanmar," coach Mai Duc Chung emphasized.
The bravery of Vietnamese girls
Although the Vietnamese girls have not yet overcome their sadness after losing to the Philippines, they all expressed that they will quickly forget this bad result to focus all their abilities on the decisive match with Myanmar. Bich Thuy, Huynh Nhu, Hai Yen and Thai Thi Thao all affirmed that they will urge and remind each other on the field, creating a close bond. They all promised to bring into full play their abilities so that the whole team can play proactively, control and not get caught up in the opponent's playing style. Young talents such as Thanh Nha, Hai Linh, Tran Thi Duyen all affirmed that they will be confident and concentrate well to create quality attacks with their seniors to defeat this tough opponent.
"The more difficult the situation, the more bravely the Vietnamese women's team plays and strives to win," Bich Thuy emphasized this to say that the bravery, will and determination of the female players that have been built up over many years will know how to explode at the right time. This will is the mental strength that helps the Vietnamese women's team not give up in the face of difficulties, turning danger into opportunity, into motivation to win, and get a ticket to the semi-finals.
