On September 9, in Tuyen Quang City, the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Tuyen Quang Province in 2024 took place. Politburo member and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien congratulated the Congress and presented gifts to Tuyen Quang Province. Comrade Hau A Lenh, Minister - Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, believes that the Congress will promote the tradition of solidarity, overcome difficulties and challenges to build an ethnic minority region rich in economy, imbued with national identity, and strong in national defense and security.

In his congratulatory speech to the Congress, Comrade Hau A Lenh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, highly appreciated the results of implementing the ethnic policies of the Party and State. Emphasizing the achievements of the province in implementing the Resolution Letter of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities, Comrade Hau A Lenh affirmed that this is the result of political determination, the effort to overcome difficulties of the people and ethnic minorities of Tuyen Quang province.

Comrade Hau A Lenh suggested that in the coming time, Party committees at all levels, authorities, and socio-political organizations need to thoroughly grasp the viewpoints, policies, and guidelines of the Party and State on ethnic affairs, great national unity, and ethnic policies. Effectively implement the 3 National Target Programs, especially the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period in the province.
“The 23 ethnic groups continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, enthusiastically compete in labor production, support each other to overcome difficulties and challenges, build the ethnic minority region of Tuyen Quang province to be rich in economy, imbued with national identity, strong in national defense and security, successfully implement the goals of the Provincial Party Committee as well as the goals in the Resolution Letter set forth by the Congress”, Comrade Hau A Lenh expressed his confidence.

According to the Report at the Congress, Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province with many difficulties, in which ethnic minorities account for 54.02% of the total population of the province, the rate of poor ethnic minority households is still high. After 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Tuyen Quang province in 2019, under the leadership of the Party Committee and authorities from the province to the grassroots, the solidarity and consensus of ethnic minorities, ethnic work and ethnic policies have been effectively implemented. Local ethnic work agencies have been gradually consolidated and improved.
Since 2021, with 3 National Target Programs with a total resource of over 27,400 billion VND implemented, up to now, 74/122 communes have met new rural standards; 13 communes have met advanced new rural standards, more than 600 infrastructure works have been and are being built, traffic infrastructure has been focused on development, creating favorable conditions for production and trade development. The number of communes with asphalted or concreted roads to the center increased from 134 communes in 2019 to 138 communes in 2024, reaching 100%; the rate of households using the national grid and other power sources reached over 99.9%. There have been 9 communes in region III and 8 communes in region II completing new rural construction, becoming communes in region I.
Up to now, the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in Tuyen Quang province has developed well. The average income per capita reached over 56 million VND/person/year, especially the poverty rate of ethnic minorities decreased by an average of 7.6%/year; support for renovating and repairing houses, reaching more than 120% of the plan for the entire period of 2021 - 2025, exceeding the target set by the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities./.
