In 2025, Hanoi Medical University will add 1-2 points to the admission score for candidates with a foreign language certificate equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher. In addition, candidates who win prizes in the National Excellent Student Competition or the Science and Technology Competition but do not use them for direct admission will also receive bonus points. If a candidate wins multiple prizes, only the highest-ranking prize will be added.

The bonus points awarded by Hanoi Medical University for specific foreign language certificates are as follows:

According to the school's announcement, foreign language certificate documents must be submitted from June 16th to 5 PM on July 18th, as per regulations.

This year, candidates applying to Hanoi University of Pharmacy with an international English certificate (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher) will receive bonus points added to their total admission score (on a 30-point scale) for all majors, ranging from 0.25 to 2 points, equivalent to IELTS scores from 5.5 to 9.0.

In addition, the school also considers a combination of high school transcripts and SAT scores. Applicants need an SAT score of 1350/1600 for Pharmacy; a minimum of 1300 for other majors. Furthermore, applicants must have excellent academic performance for three years, with a minimum GPA of 8 in each subject of the chosen subject combination in grades 10, 11, and 12.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy is awarding bonus points to candidates with international English language certificates (instead of just requiring them as a prerequisite for admission as in previous years).

Specifically, the school will award bonus points to candidates with an IELTS score of 6.0, a TOEFL score of 80, or an SAT score of 1340/1600 or higher in the combined admission method.

The University of Health Sciences, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, awards bonus points to candidates with an IELTS certificate of 6.0 or higher or an SAT score of 1280 or higher. These bonus points apply to all admission methods for the 2025 academic year.

The total enrollment quota this year has increased by 500 students to meet training needs and align with the school's development direction.

Notably, this year, for the first time, the University of Health Sciences is applying a policy of awarding bonus points to candidates with an IELTS certificate of 6.0 or higher or an SAT score of 1280 or higher, applicable to all of the university's admission methods.

Specifically, bonus points on a 30-point scale are calculated using the following formula:

Bonus points = 0.9 × IELTS score/9 + 0.9 × SAT score/1,600

In cases where the total admission score based on the subject combination, after calculating bonus points, exceeds 30 points, the score will be reset to a maximum of 30 points. Then, priority points based on eligibility and region will be added according to the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

To be eligible for bonus points, candidates must submit a notarized copy of their IELTS certificate or a hard copy of their SAT exam results to the school before 5 PM on July 21st.

In 2025, medical and pharmaceutical schools will continue to expand the range of subject combinations for admission beyond the traditional B00 group. Notably, Hanoi National University of Medicine and Pharmacy will for the first time consider combinations including English, such as D08 (Mathematics-Biology-English) and D07 (Mathematics-Chemistry-English), along with A00 and B00. Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy will also add D07 and A02 (Mathematics-Biology-Physiology) for many medical and pharmaceutical training programs. Furthermore, many universities such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hanoi Medical University, and Hanoi University of Pharmacy will allow admission based on combinations such as A00, B00, B03, B08, etc., depending on the program.

In 2024, many medical schools implemented a policy of prioritizing or adding points to the admissions criteria for candidates with international English language certificates, especially IELTS 5.5–6.5 or higher. Specifically:

Thai Binh Medical and Pharmaceutical University: Admission is based on high school graduation exam scores, with points added according to the following levels: IELTS 5.5–6.5 = +1 point; 7.0–7.5 = +1.5; ≥8.0 = +2 points

Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Priority is given to applicants based on academic transcripts, with bonus points awarded as follows: IELTS 5.0–6.0 = +1 point; 6.5–7.0 = +2 points; ≥7.5 = +3 points.

Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy – Vietnam National University, Hanoi: allocates approximately 6% of its enrollment quota to the IELTS method. Requirements: key majors (Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry) ≥6.5, other majors ≥5.5; priority is given from highest to lowest (≥8.0 is considered first), then the IELTS score is converted to the combined score of two subjects.

Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Admission method based on academic transcript plus IELTS/CEFR scores: IELTS 4.0–5.0 = +0.25–0.50; 5.5–6.5 = +0.75–1.0; priority is given to candidates with IELTS ≥6.5 and excellent academic transcripts – accounting for 10% of the quota.

Hai Duong Medical Technical University: has its own admission method using IELTS ≥6.0 (or TOEFL iBT ≥ 60) combined with high academic transcript scores; converted using the formula “IELTS ×30/9” plus priority points.

Hanoi University of Pharmacy: Admission is based on a combination of academic transcripts and SAT/ACT scores, plus an equivalent IELTS score (≥5.5): an additional 0.25–2.0 points are awarded according to the 30-point conversion table.

Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Priority will be given to applicants with a combined IELTS score of ≥6.5 (or TOEFL score of ≥79), with specific quota limits (40 – Medicine, 20 – Dentistry, 20 – Pharmacy).
