Thailand aims for a win in their opening match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. With a core squad of much higher caliber than the other opponents in Group C, the team from the "Land of Smiles" easily defeated U23 Timor Leste convincingly.

Before the first half ended, Burapha and Phochai scored to give Thailand U23 a two-goal lead. In the second half, as their opponents' stamina waned from constantly defending, coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul's team added two more goals through Ratree and Sealao to seal a 4-0 victory.
Although U23 Thailand didn't have much possession, they unleashed 16 shots, more than five times the number from Timor Leste. Their attacking tactics were also quite diverse, scoring from set pieces, wing attacks, and quick passing in the midfield.
With 3 points, U23 Thailand temporarily leads Group C, 2 points ahead of the other two teams. Coach Thawatchai's team will face U23 Myanmar on July 22nd. The result of that match will determine who qualifies for the semi-finals of this year's Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
