(gialai.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of December 4, at the Provincial Military Command (Quy Nhon Ward), the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review local defense and military work in 2025 and deploy tasks in 2026. In 2025, local defense and military work received absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party, unified management of the government and close coordination between departments, branches and localities.

Along with that, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Military Command Party Committee has united, unified, upheld principles, promoted democracy, innovated working methods and styles: upholding the spirit of responsibility, proactiveness, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility.

In particular, in more than 5 months of implementing the two-level local government model, the Provincial Military Command has proactively grasped and effectively implemented the policy of reorganizing the local military organization; perfecting the staff, stabilizing the units, completing the tasks well, especially the breakthrough tasks such as natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, training, exercises, selection and calling citizens to join the army, military recruitment. In the context of storm No. 13 and floods causing serious consequences, the provincial armed forces promptly mobilized forces and means to help people overcome the consequences, continuing to consolidate the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people.

In addition, the provincial armed forces have actively and proactively organized many practical activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). Activities such as traditional education and propaganda; organizing peak emulation movements; participating in cultural and sports activities, gratitude and grassroots-oriented works and projects... have contributed to spreading patriotism, strengthening people's trust in the Party's leadership and enhancing the image and position of the local armed forces.

The conference approved the Ministry of National Defense 's Decision to cease recognition of 56 communes and wards of the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai (old); at the same time, recognized 90 communes and wards of Gia Lai province as key communes of the national defense.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan commended the efforts and struggles of officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces in performing local defense and military tasks in 2025.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: 2026 is the first year to implement the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels; at the same time, many important political events of the country take place such as the 14th National Congress of the Party, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term. It is forecasted that the world and regional situation will continue to change rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably; having multi-dimensional impacts on the tasks of national defense, security and socio-economic development of the country. Meanwhile, besides new opportunities and advantages, Gia Lai province also faces many difficulties, limitations and challenges.

In that situation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested the Provincial Military Command, departments, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the directives, resolutions and orders of the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5, and the Provincial Party Committee on local defense and military tasks in 2026. Strive to successfully complete the socio-economic development, defense and security goals set out in the Resolution of the 1st Gia Lai Provincial Party Congress. Strengthen State management of defense; strictly implement the policy of combining socio-economic development with defense consolidation, especially on the border.

The provincial armed forces continue to uphold the spirit of revolutionary vigilance, strictly maintain combat readiness, improve forecasting quality, correctly assess the situation, advise on effective handling of all situations, maintain political security and social order and safety. Closely coordinate with forces in airspace management, patrolling and border protection; participate in ensuring absolute safety for important political events of the country and the province.

Focus on supporting people to repair collapsed houses due to natural disasters at the end of the year, ensuring to complete the target before January 31, 2026 in the spirit of "Quang Trung Speed - Boldness" of the Prime Minister.

Do a good job of registering and managing citizens of military age, organizing selection and calling citizens to join the army in 2026 to reach 100% of the target, ensuring quality. Synchronously and effectively deploy policies for people with meritorious services; take good care of gratitude work, policies for the Army and the Army's rear.

Strengthening defense relations, friendly exchanges and border cooperation with the northeastern provinces of Cambodia and southern Laos, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

The Regional Defense Command quickly stabilized the organization, promoted its core role, and was a reliable defense and military support for the Party Committees and authorities of the communes and wards under its responsibility. Proactively prepared forces, means, and plans to help people prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters and catastrophes; especially in extreme weather conditions that may continue to develop abnormally.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to continue to pay attention, coordinate and create conditions for local armed forces to successfully complete national defense and military tasks in 2026, especially in the context that the province is the host of the National Tourism Year and many important political and social events take place.

On this occasion, 11 collectives and 13 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Emulation movement to win the provincial armed forces in the period 2023 - 2025 received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
